This only works for Cadillac converters, your typical ones will not work.

That’s not precious metal in the bottom. Kid doesn’t know what he’s talking about. That’s still unrefined crap from the side of the can. When you extract platinum/palladium/rhodium from the ceramic via dissolving the metals with aqua Regia or hydrochloric/bleach and then using one of various compounds to precipitate either all three or each separately back into a solid, the metallic “sponge” (the goop when wet, powder after dried) is black for platinum, and orange/brown for palladium. It doesn’t just look like shiny flakes of metal scraped off the edges of the can. Now you could just smash up the ceramic and bring it somewhere for money unrefined, which I’m guessing is what he’s going for…..but you can’t legally do that anymore now. They’ll know it’s straight out of a cat and turn you down without the casing of the cat with ID number, and the corresponding vehicles registration/title. So don’t be stupid and do it this way. Watch a video on how to safely extract the metals through chemical process. Kids like this stealing cats and illegally selling the ceramic are what cause normal people like me (who had a cat from a Jetta that was totaled 7 years ago, and didn’t keep the title after the insurance claim came through) to have to go through a chemical process to claim our money instead of just bringing it to a scrapper as is.

That's aluminum you see in the big chunks. The precious metals are what floats off when you're opening them up. Hence the machine needed. Chemical process only. If you're trying to do it in a sluece type deal, you're robbing yourself
