Crafting facial prosthetics requires a combination of fine art and medical skills. Greg Gion, an anaplastologist, comes from a fine arts background and has been designing facial prostheses since the 1980s. Most of the pieces he makes are for people who have lost facial features to either cancer or accidents.

I can't imagine how painful going through some of these injuries must have been and even worse the feeling of being outkast because of an injury the fact that now we can replicate those parts and help people gain back confidence is great

I can't believe how incredibly seamless the matched pieces fit. They look so natural it's almost shocking

The size and depth of the first lady’s eye cavity was scary. I didn’t know people could survive having such a large opening in their heads.

INCREDIBLE! I cannot imagine the gratitude these patients must feel for being able to live a normal life with the aid of these amazing prosthetics! Bless them!

It looks so realistic, I can't even imagine how much work it takes to adjust it to the patients needs, features and skin.

I make sculptures and paintings and takes me at least 2 weeks to finish a decent 'realistic' piece that's not even close to this amazing work of his. This man is such a blessing to the human race 👏👏

Instead of being scared or grossed out, I just felt sheer awe at the artistry and gratitude that those people could have a prosthetic that is almost undetectable

Makes us realise how fortunate we are that we don't need any of these and how fortunate those people are to have talented caring people to help them. ❤
