I haven't play the game for the last 3 months but I'm sure everyone who never misses on archon quest will always come back just to experience it. The story of genshin will always be the main purpose of people returning really, everything else is just a bonus.

That being said, I'm glad genshin proved many "haters" wrong about not listening (warranted due to many games pushing genshin to do this in a way to save the player base). All in all, we the customer, wins. See you in Natlan!

To be fairly honest, I always thought that Hoyoverse "listened", but took it slow. For example, the past year we got a tremendous improvement for the Sereniteapot, and I guess it's because CCs didn't mediatize it too much that we didn't hear more about it. But truly, the teapot now had NOTHING to do with pre-4.0. navigating through the menus and crafting has become much more smoother. They also added, throughout the year, smaller but very practical QoL, such as the basic iron ore in the explorations task at the Adventurer's guild. They added the "claim all" button for a few menus, like the blacksmith and Exploration tab as well. These can be details, but together, they make the navigation and game experience better overall.

Though, I have to admit, definitely ever since patch 4.5/6, they kicked one gear up. The IT definitely has been cooked ever since 4.4 (the core gameplay is from the Triumphant Frenzy event from Lantern Rite), as well as other features. I strongly believe these were in the works since the earlier part of the year (post 4.4 I'd say), and they added them through the last batch of Fontaine patches to prepare for the big one with 5.0. I don't believe too much it's "thanks to WuWa" because let's be real: objectively some features (such as IT) were definitely in their books before the game was even released, and the influence is more about rewards (but tbh we will never know if it's true or not) than gameplay. I think the biggest cause is the uproar from Lantern Rite (and not just "3 pulls for anniversary" gosh this one annoyed me so much), and possibly some internal issues (rumors about Genshin's producer being replaced and stuff. But then again; they're RUMORS, we must take this with a grain of salt).

But like Bran said: whatever happened in the past, the important is the present, and clearly the game has still a fairly number of years before it ends. Who knows, maybe the whole 7 nation odyssey might just be the 1st part of the journey, and we might explore Teyvat's hidden face.

And don't forget, they said they will be expanding the Standard Banner character roster! So we'll finally be getting more options for standard fates and in future annivesaries!

If you're a "returning player", do not come back by logging in until 5.0 patch hits. The Stellar Reunion will be buffed as well at 5.0 with 10 free pulls on top of whatever they're giving now.

The 5.0 update is what finally persuaded me to come back to genshin after leaving in 4.2. We thought genshin could never, but looks like genshin can indeed. Honestly glad they decided to make some changes. It's about time.

I think a lot of people downplayed the rewards they showed this time so much. They keep saying it's too little to put it on par with WuWa or HSR, and these changes should've been implemented way earlier, which I agree, but not to the degree to say that it's still a dogshit update. I think more important than anything is the fact that after 4 long years they finally showed the signs that they started listening more to the feedbacks and compared to what we usually get, these are huge changes and I think we have the right to be hopeful that their mindset has changed for good moving forward, and can expect better and better changes implemented down the line with upcoming patches, eventually putting it on the high standard that other newer games have set.

Personally, I am a kind of person that always believe that people can change, later or sooner. Even though I understand it's still very frustrating it took them that long to change, they finally did. And no matter how late it is, I always appreciate those who are determined enough to change themselves for the better, and I won't be a dick to those who can change even late.

I'd say if you do intend to return and stick around for longer than a week or so, return now just so you don't miss out on Simulanka's resources to get you some momentum going into Natlan. It's easy to explore, lighthearted, and extremely relaxing.

The fact I tuned in before I got notified, shows how my senses tell me that Bran is on YT posting and I just HAD to watch! King doing amazing and this is actually a great recap!

I am so happy Dawei has finally been given control because he truly cares about the game and about listening to the community, which obviously shows with the amount of amazing goodies that we are being given. Here’s to a new Genshin era!

I only hope that after 5.0

I) the new artifact upgrade will be more F2P friendly
II) we get some 4-Star weapons with crit stat (excluding battle pass) like the Widsith

Also, its speculated that we get about 125 pulls as f2p in 5.0 so it's pretty great update whether you want to save for any character or collect enough to get the 5.0 character

Ngl the only thing I find myself looking forward to when genshin has an anniversary is the new pet they give. I love the octobaby they gave last year it's so cute and the dragon they showed this year looks cute too I can't wait to get it
