Autonomous ErgoChair 2 Review - SIX MONTHS LATER (what I wish I knew)

The ErgoChair 2 by Autonomous has been one of the most popular Ergonomic chairs this summer with everyone working from home. I made a review of this chair right before the pandemic started without realizing how many people were going to be buying it just a few weeks later. I wanted to make a follow-up review six months later with my thoughts on the chair and a few things I didn't realize until later that I wish were mentioned in the original video.

Thank you for doing a follow up review. Tons of chairs seem great during the honeymoon phase, but show flaws with time. That's why I find these reviews way more valuable than "I just bought this chair" reviews.

Ive had this chair for almost 3 years. Here are my findings:
1. At least on my model, it doesnt make snap sounds like yours, but it does have other random creaking sounds.
2. The seat cushion basically flattened out entirely over the 2-3 years. I have just received a replacement. Id recommend reaching out to them before the warranty expires and get a free replacement, even if youre cushion isnt doing too bad. You can always have the spare for when it does inevitably flatten out.
3. The back gets really dusty usually due to rubbing shirts on the mesh. It kinda acts like a cheese grater for your shirt and all the lint lands on the back.
4. The castor wheels are ok at first, but get worse over time. Buying a set of "roller skate" style wheels is the greatest upgrade for the wheels you can do, unless youre rolling on carpet.
5. I wouldnt recommend this chair for people over 200lbs. The mechanism may be rated for 350lbs, but the entirety of the chair is not, at least according to alot of reviewers. I myself weight 170-180, so it was never a problem for me.
6. The arm rests are fine for me, but if your expecting some foam padded comfort, look elsewhere.
7. The seat does not have alot of height adjustment, maybe 3-5 inches at most.

Overall, aside from the cushion being one of its downfalls, its a great chair that is pushing the 3 year mark for me without any real issues.

With all the hype I'd never think this chair would have so many quality issues. This video was an eye-opener. Thank you

Hey all! I have a special discount code that I got that I don’t need. If you’re reading this, give it a shot and see if it works for you: BREAK50. It should give you $50 off on orders above $300. If you’re reading this and that code is already been taken, you can always use my referral code R-MANEET for a (slightly smaller) discount 😄 Happy new year!

Thank you for this update video! I just ordered one of these today and I was curious about how it would hold up after long-term use. You answered all my questions directly and concisely and made me feel confident in my purchase. I appreciate the information!

I also bought this chair after watching your video. My armrests are super squeaky when moving left or right.
I bought some armrest memory foam pads from amazon to help with the hard armrests.
Happy with the purchase so thank you.

I was about to buy this chair because of this video, but after selecting hawaii as my shipping address the price went from $350 to $650. And it still says free shipping. I was told the price change was due to sales tax. I've never had that much of a price jump from any retailer.

Super detailed and Helpful video, you’re the reason I bought the ergo chair in the first place and up until now, I don’t regret it :)

What’s going brother Maneetpaul. I just finished mantling my ErgoChair2 and it’s probably one of the best chairs I have personally ever owned, apart from my ergonomic chair at work. I can tell you what’s wrong with a few things you mentioned about the ErgoChair2 that I think I can assist you one. For starters... (1) The dust that chair is collecting is bc you have a carpet/rug in your space. (Solution): Consider swapping to hardwood or vinyl floors. (2) The click-clack noise your chair is making is bc the bolts are not properly tighten or manually tightened. (Solution): Consider using a power drill at a very low speed and then once the bolt slighlty locks into place use the t-shaped alley key tool. (3) You and I are the same height my friend... LOL! But thank God this seat offers various settings. (4) I have had 2 cervical fusions, and the the headrest works amazingly and provides extensive lumbar, and neck support. Other than what you mentioned good video man. Keep posting more!

Thanks for the video, fun fact: these chairs are made by a Chinese manufacturer and Autonomous does not make these nor design them, they simply put their branding on them and sell them for x3 of the manufacturing cost (Just like gaming chairs on the market).

Today I found out Autonomous sells this chair for £479 and after browsing more online I came across the same chair without the Autonomous branding logo located on the back from another UK seller for £260. So I figure the manufacturing cost of this unit must be around £100 mark.

That is a huge mark up for a product they do not even design or rights to.

5'11" 240 lbs, I personally find this chair super comfortable, even with the relatively hard armrests, bought it partially on your recommendation and appreciate the follow up.

Pretty awesome review. At the time of writing this comment, I've had my ErgoChair 2 for almost 2 weeks now and can say that the back support is something you will need to get used to. I don't know if you or anyone else here who is reading the comments had a moment, when you unlock the tilt, lean back in the chair and then try to lock it in place, but instead fail to fully lock it and it ends up making this weird kinda cracking noise that sounds as if the little dents that hold the chair in each stage of your lean just scrape against the hook or whatever the inside of the mechanism uses for tilt locking. Not sure how to explain this, but just felt odd. Tried doing it again later worried that I might've broken the 450 dollar chair (Canadian price). So far it seems like nothing serious happened and the chair is okay.
