This is like when you have that friend who just will not fix their (really, really) cracked phone no matter how much it starts to make their life fall apart. At first it's annoying because they bitch about the crack, then after a bit of time they start having to pick shards of glass of out their fingers and have to try to use voice recognition because half the keyboard is fucked, then the actual display starts glitching out and they don't get most of your texts or calls because it's so fucked up, and then they fall off the Earth, suddenly, and you find out a month later that they got fired because their alarm didn't work, and then they couldn't even call it in so it was a no-call so they had no way to beg for forgiveness, and now they're on the verge of getting evicted and their car got repo'd and their finger is all swollen and covered in open MRSA-infected sores from the filthy glass cuts that they can't have treated because they have no insurance and they can't even try to get on Medicaid or COBRA because they are broke and running out of shit to pawn.


But somehow, NOW, after their entire life is in shambles from all this, when you text them to see which shelter they're going to be sleeping at tonight, they respond with "new phone who dis?"


(These stupid uniforms are the broken screen. He had so many opportunities to just stop doing the stupid thing, but just wouldn't do that one simple thing because.... Idfk.)
