Excellent review. I went all-in on this because I couldn't control myself, but I agree that the expansions aren't necessary to enjoy this game. The versus expansion is probably the closest to a "should get if possible" because it allows for a skirmish mode which can be quite fun (other than it takes away the usage of all the cool bad-gadgets.)

Such a massive game and a serious production. There are a lot of happy Batman fans out there right now. I like the fact that each play session is about an hour to 90 minutes. Enjoyed the overview and review! There's a half-a-lifetime of painting involved if you decide to paint these minis! :D

The iconography makes HeroClix look simple but it's probably daunting only at first.

I'm disappointed that there isn't a retail version but the theme and components are very alluring. You can easily see the love these creators have for Batman.

The superhero genre seems ripe for a co-op, dungeon crawler-ish, campaign game. Imagine taking some of Marvel's teams through a campaign narrative (ala the Avengers movies).

I feel like this is too similar to conan with batman pasted on it. And I also feel it went overboard with its complexity with icons everywhere. Even the board is a mess of icons and elevations to the point they knew it, which is why they have those guides in the book.

Rulebooks one of the best I've read. Most games don't give you the time windows for you actions. Really gives you a sense of expandability to like a card game

I think I'm glad I missed this. It looks...decent, but I'm not sure it's worth the price, especially when I don't care THAT much about minis. Great review, as always! I hope you get to review Brook City.

I only bought the core game and versus mode. After several solo plays, but I mean several playthroughs, I'm now able to teach this game with ease. I'm enjoying it more and more as I'm becoming more familiar with the icons, making each hero feel different.
I do agree with the feel bad moments, when players spend most of the cubes for an objective and fail, spend more cubes to reroll and fail again. It's annoying 😠. Ultimately the good times outway the bad times 🦇 🎲
