The thing is that today is Mother's Day and this short represents, to me, a relationship between a mother and her I just wanted to say thank you Mom's that are everywhere. You have changed the world in so many ways!!! And I especially love my mom, cause she is awesome and she makes me so happy!

For those confused about this short, 90% of what we saw was an allegorical dream. The only real moment is the last 10%, where we see the mother sleeping in the bedroom and then waking up and the son arrives. Everything before was the woman remembering raising her son, but since she was dreaming and everything was imaginary, as a dumpling. It was a dream of his whole life but displayed in one single day.

As for the mother eating the dumpling, I was confused at first. But I have several possible interpretations and theories. Since this is a very terrible action, and it forever separates the mother and the son, I think it is actually a metaphor for either 1) the mother yelling or proclaiming, “I never want to see you again!” in the real world, or possibly disowning him forever, which can be seen as a metaphor for death. As they will never see each other again.

2) Slapping or hitting the child in the real world, which is a very terrible action, and much like eating and killing the dumpling child, it is a terrible deplorable action that forever separates them forever and maybe caused him to leave forever.

Remember that what we saw in the movie was an allegorical dream for what really happened, so there can be theories and interpretations.

This is part of life how the majority of children grow up and have their own families just like their parents grew up and had their own families

The new family becomes closer to the children than their families that they were raised in and they’re not as close to their parents and siblings as they are to their own families with their spouses and children

Eventually everyone becomes a stranger to everyone as we age that’s why it’s important to seek our Creator for help and guidance in every area of our lives
