Lasko Pedestal Fan Pole Assembly

The way this is explained in the video should be reflected in the assembly instructions! Whoever formulated these assembly instructions should be tar and feathered! There’s nothing more frustrating than combating abstruse and arcane directions that purports itself to be easy and simplistic! Thankfully this short assembly video rectified these moiling and onerous directions!

I just wanted to add how exciting it was to be able to put the pole in the right way I was thinking that something was wrong then I looked up Google and found the instructions on how to assemble the POLL into that unit!

I was all smiles😅 it's wonderful when a woman can do it all by herself and no man is involved!

I found a fan just like this in a dumpster in 2019. It was only a few months old according to the MFG date. I took it home, cleaned it up and still works perfectly as of 2024.

Bought the Lasko pedestal fan. Model S18640. Can't believe they would design something where the pedestal pole will not lock into the base unit. This video doesn't show it locking either. You pick up the fan to move it and the pedestal pole comes right out of base. Believe me. I've twisted, pushed and pounded on the pole trying to get it to lock in place. Also, when oscillating, since the pole won't lock in place, fan keeps shifting direction on its own after a few minutes. It won't oscillate the area you want it to. As suggested in comments, I put a couple layers of electrical tape on bottom of pole and inserted it into base. So far, so good.

Pole won't secure to the base completely. It does not want to lock into place. What are we doing wrong?

Its insane that the main fan will not secure to the pole. Its very dangerous for kids if the touch it and also hard to move. You have to move it with 2 hand holding the pole and the fan. The airflow is great seams to be a steady fan there should only be a way to secure the fan to the pole.

The answer to why the pole doesn't lock into the base can be seen by glancing into the base, then glancing at the end of the pole. The base has an arrangement for a locking pole. This can be clearly seen when you look into the hole in the base.. But when you glance at the end of the pole, what is obviously missing is the other half of the locking mechanism which should have been welded into the end of the pole.. No amount of twisting, pounding or otherwise is going to magically make the pole engage the base. It just isn't going to happen. On the other hand, epoxy, RTV, silicon sealant, nasty old black electricians tape will probably do the trick.

So I cant get the motor piece to sit on the pole bc there is a random screw sticking out from it is it suppose to be there? Bout to just take it back and buy a different brand
