Watch our IGN Marvel Rivals review! Neither the MCU nor the hero shooter genre are at the glorious heights experienced by both in the past decade, but that isn’t stopping Marvel Rivals from doing everything it can to be a success story today. Approachable, yet with a high skill ceiling to reach for, it's consistently a great time no matter which fan-favourite comic book character and accompanying skillset is at your fingertips. It may be following closely in the slipstream of the hero shooter games that have come before it, but by doing so Marvel Rivals has firmly placed itself in a strong position to take the crown for itself.

They just need to add more villains to the game. The game is called Rivals but a majority of the roster is all known good guys. It's surprising Thanos and Doom aren't playable yet.

So far I'm shocked how much I enjoy it. I wish there was a better unlock/progression system outside of paid content, but the core is fun!

It's a 10/10 because its free, and they could of easily asked $20 for it or lure you into a subscription to play. Art work is amazing, 6stack team, Marvel characters, and a feeling of OverWatch 1 OG days. Goodbye Overwatch

Adam warlock and cloak and dagger are characters I never thought I’d have an affinity for, but this game made me appreciate them. Can’t wait to see which other characters make it in game

It's an 8.5 for me, objectively. Certainly not perfect, but a strong start. My favorite game of the year next to Metaphor.

The way people talk about hero shooters and multiplayer games in general (now all lumped into the "live service/GaaS category) reminds me of how people talked about single-player games during the PS3/Xbox 360 era. Claiming they're relics of the past and begrudging their very existence. Also saying they should all be free reminds me of the value arguments people were having about shorter single-player games of that time. I remember tons of gamers online saying a strictly single-player game isn't worth $60.
