Sparkling Water - Any Health Risks To Carbonated Water?

preview_player
Показать описание
Dr. Klaper tells us about drinking sparkling water (carbonated water) and if there are any health risks. Is sparkling water bad for you? Generally, there are no health risks in drinking fizzy water. Soda water, seltzer, and club soda are created by dissolving carbon dioxide into water to create carbonation. Bubbly water is mildly acidic but not enough to upset the stomach. And it doesn't last in the mouth long enough to decay your teeth. So drink up and let sparkling water be a part of your plant based diet.

Question: Does drinking sparkling water have any downsides?

I love seltzer and have had to endure regular taunts from family members who claim I'm destroying my natural pH. Thanks for settling a debate we've been having for years.

I've read that many popular sparkling water brands contain PFAs which can suppress immune function, exacerbate eczema, etc health problems associated with PFA contamination.

Interestingly, when I have migraine I can't drink sparkling water. It makes the pain SO much worse. I discovered this in my early 20s when, after drinking sparkling water when my head was sore, it started to get considerably worse. It had to happen a few times before I realised it was not a coincidence or simply the migraine progressing. Around the same time, my friend's GP (primary care doctor) told her not to drink sparkling water during a migraine attack because it increased the severity of pain.

I drank about 12-15 cans per day. I came into work and went right to the refrig and grabbed a can and drank them one after another. Why not? No calories and it is only carbonated water. I drank all the brands.

Over many months I noticed my kidneys on both sides hurt. I am 60 and take no meds and eat little meat snd dairy. I let the pain go on for about 1.5 years when someone suggested I might be drinking too many sparkling waters.

Of course I didn’t think there was any connection to the carbonated water I was drinking but I stopped 100% and over a 4 day period I noticed the pain went away. Strange.

Well 1 week later the kidney pain returned on both sides and I wondered what’s causing that and I looked down and noticed I had only drank the top 1/4” out of a sparkling water that I had grabbed without even thinking about it.

There you go 100% proof to me that the high consumption of sparkling water was causing my kidney pain. No more for me and a am stuck with about 10 cases of it.

I struggle to drink enough water so i started with a litre a day of soda water, ingredients: Carbonated Water, Acidity Regulator: Sodium Carbonates. I wonder if it's the same thing pretty much as sparkling water?

The acidity is one thing, but I thought it was mildly dehydrating, I think it gave me muscle spasms during the month or 2 I was drinking it, and uric acid to my knee, so I usually avoid it

Good to know, especially since I really love the occasional pack of Izze sodas, from our local natural foods stores. They’re fruit flavored sodas, sweetened with fruit juice only. 😉💜🍓🥤🍑💜😋

I find Le Croix water made my body swell, almost like edma, so I cut out carbonated water years ago. I have always been curious what it was in it to have that effect on me.
