Hollow Knight- Don't Kill the Nailsmith!

After fully upgrading your nail four times with the Nailsmith (which takes a total of 6 pale ore) you will have a tough conversation with the Nailsmith.

After fully upgrading the nail to the pure nail the Nailsmith will give you some new dialogue outside:
"With a Pure Nail forged, my work in this lifetime comes to an end. My only remaining desire is to see and feel the nail strike true!

I beg you, cut me down. As my final moment in life, I want to taste the blade's exquisite edge.

After all this time, all this toil... haven't I earned it?

Do not hesitate. I beg you. Cut me down! I want to taste that blade's exquisite edge."

Do Not Kill the Nailsmith! In this video I will show you how you can save the Nailsmith's life and he can live happy with Nail Master Sheo.

Note: The Nailsmith will not move to Sheo's hut if the player has not acquired Great Slash. He will disappear after being spared and only appear in Sheo's hut after the player has gained the ability and rested on a bench afterward.

But I never even went to go check on Sheo at all even with that thought in my mind.

This reminds me of the time I saved Cloth THEN fought the traitor lord. I felt so bad but, then she mentioned someone named Nola (I think) who I assumed was a sibling or close friend of hers that had probably been dead for quite some time so, I thought “I guess in a way this was a happy ending for her”. Still cried though.

I feel bad for killing the Nailsmith but he also asked for it as a completion of his life’s work. So technically, neither decision is wrong. Killing him is just in the moral grey area 👌🏽

I had just came out of platting nioh 1 and 2 so the japanese high stakes honor system was still pretty fresh in my mind.

I could see the lucidity in the nailsmith as he made his final request. Knowing how he served me in my journey i felt obligated to serve him in his, so with solemn stoicism I charged the most powerful single strike I could muster lest he survive and feel failure in his work.... Then with tears falling behind my mask, i granted him his final wish.

I think most of the players killed him, and they never knew that he coud've found new reason to live.
