How to use White Balance #photography

On most digital cameras, there is custom white balance feature that lets you pick the color temperature by sighting or photographing a white card. If you get the color balace right in camera, it saves you time in post processing of you let your editing software do its job. Mixed light sources can drive you nuts when looking for the correct color temp.

when you say set the white balance to the lights around you, like you pointed out there's different kelvin lights in the room. so which WB do you suggest I set my camera too?
