I thought the monofocal for distance in one eye and for close up in the other would be good for distance and close up after the brain adjusts over time.

Thank you for the clear and easy to understand explanation.

What some are doing is far focus in one eye, near focus in the other. The brain needs about a week to reconcile and adjust, but after that it is said to work well. Of course you can also get a pair of bi focal glasses wired in the other direction too so that both eyes will see perfectly at all distances.

I have a question. I am myopic with -6.50 glasses in both eyes. I am getting catracts now so I am deciding on surgery getting done. With monofocal lens implant (assuming I get far vision fixed ), for close and intermediate vision will have to have two different reading glasses or the same reading glasses for both ? In other words, to watch my computer screen and a receipt in restaurant will i need two separate reading glasses or bifocal or a single powered lens will suffice ?

Hi, I’m wearing progressive eyeglasses, my sphere is -1.25 and reading is +1.50, my intermediate is normal( can see clearly when I’m on the computer). I’m considering the IOL implant, if I choose the distance monofocal lens, does my intermediate will become blurry and need glasses? Thanks for the reply.

It is now 7 years later, can you now in 2021 get monofocal lens for near vision? I was told that these lenses were only made for distance. by the way I love wearing my glasses and I am over sixty.
Thank you

isnt monfocal more "popular" because its covered by insurance where the other lenses are not?

Doctor, question please: I have had cataract surgery in my R eye for distance and it has worked giving me better distance vision. Next, I am doing a contact lens trail for short distance in my L eye to see if Monovision will work. If I then go ahead with cataract surgery for near distance in the L eye, (which has a more minor cataract compared to the right eye but I prefer to get this done now rather than later in life) and if after surgery I find I can't focus and see the detail on my computer screen for my work, will glasses help in this situation? Also, can I get glasses that will enhance distance vision for when I am driving?

Bullshit because I had both eyes done and I have to wear glasses. I see doubles without glasses on.
