1 Year Later is the Switch FINALLY Worth It?
Показать описание
The Nintendo Switch took the world by storm with its launch by being an interesting concept. A hybrid console. A device you can walk around with or chill with on your couch. Which is cool. But what's owning one like? And is it worth buying now? Here's my experience owning a Switch for a year. Or uh… 364 days. Close enough. Let's get started.

So, I made a similar video 6 months ago about the Switch but focused on its flaws. People didn't like that. They really didn't. They didn't like the criticisms. I said there wasn't enough diversity in the games yet, micro sd cards sucked, the stand sucked, and the price of owning one was just plain terrible compared to other consoles. That was then, I said I didn't think it was worth it YET. I also said I think it'd get better by the year mark. It's been a year. Let's dig into it.
The Switch 6 months ago, didn't even have Super Mario Odyssey out yet, with the only major game being Breath of the wild. Then comes the wave, Xenoblade, Mario, Splatoon 2, some switch ports. It's looking good. Could use a few more third party games, but the library is no longer something to scoff at. Its growing nicely and the timeline for it looks good.
Buying one is a little easier now with the Switch almost always in stock, and prices are good. There's occasionally discounts now, but not just the switch, but also some of their overpriced accessories, that make them more… bearable.
Also, the USB type-c port that the Switch has is great, you don't have to buy into Nintendo's own connector port, like you used to. I'm talking to you, GBA SP, DS, 3DS. Now you can use any usb-c cable to charge your Switch. You can use your new android smartphone cable, or even a new MacBook cable. It's great. And you can do it the other way around too. It's nice that they went with something more universally accepted.
The way you can use the switch is amazing, in docked mode, or in hand, it's all seamless and super user friendly. Nintendo made using this thing a blast with no hassle and it's not hard to use at all.
But some of the flaws I pointed out still exist. I won't mention it's not so great stand, because honestly, they can't fix it if the console is already released, however, it's still mediocre, especially for taller people. Sorry, actually the stand sucks. Back pain all around. Now here's the big one. Storage space. The Switch only has 32gb of memory in a micro sd card. A lot of things can take up the space in that sd card. Apps take up a little space, but game updates take up more, and games themselves take huge chunks. Just looking at this thread from nintendolife, you can tell well-known games take up sometimes, up to half of the storage space. I'm talking to you Take-Two. If you were considering buying a large sd card to fit all your games so you won't have to ever change cartridges, you may end up giving up some dough. And if you're buying a bunch of small sd cards, you might as well just buy the cartridges since, you'll be carrying around micro sd cards, that would be more expensive and even smaller than cartridges, anyway. Even if you did buy cartridges you'll still be stuck buying more sd cards, because DLC and game updates take up space too. That storage space will fill up fast. Be prepared.
But really storage space is the only real limiting factor for the Switch, pretty much every major flaw I saw with it has been fixed. I can say I think it's about prime time to get a Switch. I'd recommend it for people who enjoy Nintendo games. Sure, the switch is popular now, but I have a feeling it's about to get wayyyyyy more popular. But, remember to stock up on those SD cards.
Anyway, I hope you guys found this video useful, if you enjoyed it, give it a thumbs up, comment, and well, don't forget to subscribe. I'll see you guys next time.
