In Excel, if you have subtotals in a PivotTable and need to calculate the percentage of the subtotal, you can use the percentage of the Parent Total feature. In this video, I'll also calculate the Grand Total Percentage along with the Parent Total.

This is great. What my issue is that I frequently deal with demographic data . Is it possible to take two columns, e.g. gender, add them together for a specific race/ ethnicity category and the create a column which shows what percentage of the grand total does the two added columns represent?

Hi, I'm trying to use your idea but I need to create calculated field returning a, b, c or d letter depends on percentage. With your solution I cannot do it because there are only numbers to choose. Sorry, i'm new with that. Probably I missed something
