The fact Americans would rather have another 10 lane highway than this is mind boggling

Hello. I am Japanese and live in a city where the Tokaido Shinkansen (the world's first high-speed train) runs through.
It is not that I dislike the Shinkansen, and when I travel on it, I am amazed at how comfortable it is, but I am always envious when I see the diversity of high-speed trains in Europe.
For example, the sight of high-speed cars and regular cars side by side, which is not uncommon in Europe, can only be seen on limited sections of the Mini-shinkansen (ミニ新幹線) system in Japan. In other sections, station buildings and platforms are separated from the existing railroad, which is unnatural and lacks a sense of unity.
I believe that Japan has much to learn from Europe.

In Germany only the ones with the white livery are high speed trains, the others are regional

The USA can only dream of having a super fast cross country passenger rail network.

In Czechia the fastest train (pendolino) can run up to 230km/h, but on the czech tracks it can go max. 160km/h 💀

I was recently travelling from Basel to Paris on a TGV Lyria. I thought the most impressive display was when another tgv passed you on the next track. It takes less than two seconds.

Fliegender Hamburger

In 1933 the first German streamlined diesel trainset ran between Berlin and Hamburg: the SVT 877, nicknamed the Flying Hamburger. It was the fastest train service in the world. The 286 kilometers were covered in 138 minutes. The average speed of 124 km/h was only equaled on this route in 1997 by the ICE.

The lightweight diesel-electric train set was built by WUMAG after elaborate wind tunnel testing. Both railcars had a Maybach diesel engine, a generator and an electric motor. Its top speed of 175 km/h was limited to 160 km/h in regular service

I've never seen a train with a mix of double-level and single-level cars that blend together so seamlessly like this train at 6:25.

I seriously think the USA could have an absolutely killer train network if they wanted. With the ammount of land and space they have they could easily have an extremely fast train on the line that goes across entire states in less time than a car. I dont want a war starting from this comment im just speaking my mind and it sounds like a cool idea.

I’d love to see a ScotRail HST trundling around the Fife Circle at 25mph in this compilation.
