Uk Labour Leader Keir Starmer: Trivial Showman – Outside Views

Keir Starmer condemned Boris Johnson as "trivial" and "showman" when he blocked off hecklers for a very personal conference speech aimed at convincing voters that Labour is ready for government.

Brexit happened on January 31st 2020 when the United Kingdom formally left the institutions of the European Union. And I give you some outside views on it.

Starmer has one shot. If he cannot win against all these gov't failures, he will never win against a competent PM.

I think a lot of Labour party members have been disappointed by Mr Starmer.

As a Professional Engineer I was struggling to find both suitable skilled labour and candidates for Apprenticeships over 30 years ago. I have watched this trend grow since then. The final nail was the reforms to schools and Universities, started by Thatcher and accelerated by Blair. The drive towards getting most into University, the Academic drive, rather than to practical skills, also encouraged academia in "6th Form", A Levels not Apprenticeships. The change to school finances meant that they needed a 6th form to balance the books and the "Brownie Points" of getting pupils to University..
At least 75% of kids are not natural academics. Why push the academic skills? Why is it more important for an Trainee Painter and Decorator to be able to write an essay on the types and uses of paint brushes, than to be able to use them?

Even PLP admit that Labour cannot, mathematically, win a GE any more. Even the much-vaunted electoral pact with other parties wouldn't be enough for an outright majority, just a minority cabinet. The accomplishments of Bliar (illegal war, dividing the EU) and Brown (complicit with 2007 banking crisis) are NOT something to boast about. Unless, just like the Tories, the ONLY thing that matters to you is not good government, or government, just being in power and having PLP snouts in trough.

Labour don't oppose Brexit and that's the end of my support for Labour. Like many others, i'm politically adrift with no effective party representing me.
