Just lost our 12 YO Berner last spring, spent about 8 years as a therapy dog. I'd add #6. Berners want to be with their people; especially as pups. If your household situation is such that you must leave them alone for hours per day, especially when young, reconsider getting a Berner. They are such gentle souls, it's traumatic and stressful for many of them to be abandoned by their people for hours per day on a regular basis.

It was such an eye opener having a Berner after a GSD! The differences, especially when it comes to training and discipline, are night and day. My GSD had my heart for the safety and security she offered me. My Berner now holds my heart for the loving, intelligent, goofy bear he is. ❤

Question: What about outside temps? Is North Alabama too hot? I've heard if daily temps gets above 70 degrees it can be fatal in minutes?
