Показать описание
Learn about the 4 types of sentences with this English grammar lesson and quiz. Sentence structure refers to the arrangement of words and phrases in a sentence, while sentence type refers to the purpose or function of a sentence. Today's lesson will focus on sentence types: declarative, imperative, interrogative, and exclamatory sentences.
At the end of this lesson, we will have a quiz where you need to identify the sentence types.
Declarative sentences make statements or express facts. They end with a period or full stop (.) at the end.
Examples:
• I love watching movies.
• My name is Miguel.
Imperative sentences give commands, instructions, or make requests.
They often begin with a verb and don't necessarily have a subject.
Examples:
• Please close the door.
• Stop touching the glass.
Interrogative sentences ask questions. They often begin with question words like who, what, where, when, why, or how.
Examples:
• How old are you?
• Do you play any sports?
Exclamatory sentences express strong emotions, surprise, or excitement. They end with an exclamation mark (!).
Examples:
• You are an incredible chef!
