There isn't enough time in the day to read absolutely everything! I'm only just reading through Sandman now, and I only just read Maus earlier this year. I've not read Bone or Usagi Yojimbo yet!

Sandman was my first omnibus. I was buying it blind and just heard how good it was and it is good but hard to follow sometime. The library editions are also so cool thats the other reason I got it. Im about halfway through.

Me at the start of this video: The notion that someone isn't a "part of the community" because they haven't read enough comics is pretty stupid. Comic fandom should be inclusive, not exclusive.
Me after seeing #1 on this list: WHAT?! How can you even call yourself a comic fan?!

Thank you so much for the subtitles! It helps a lot.

I think I’ve only read 3 or 4 of these at most. I read 300, Pride of Baghdad, and I’m in the middle of reading The Boys. I’m a huge Gath Ennis fan and all I can say about it right now is that you’re not missing a whole lot. There are some things in it that have marred my overall enjoyment of it.

That's not fair! I've been telling you to delete your channel long before this video! 😂

You are killing me with Superman For All Seasons and Essex County on this list. For All Seasons is my favorite Superman story and Essex County is, to me, the best (favorite) thing I have ever read from any genre, format, or medium.

Also....MAUS is fantastic and entertainment and education can (and should) overlap from time to time.

Off the top of my head, the ones I feel most like I personally should have had a go at reading by now are:
Maus
Blacksad
Preacher
The Invisibles
Sin City
Strangers in Paradise
Pretty much everything by Alan Moore except Watchmen
A million acclaimed Marvel/DC runs, both older and modern

I'm also currently only part way through the following:
Invincible
TMNT (IDW run)
Power Rangers

There's no shame in it though! I know I'll get around to reading the ones that most interest me someday. You can't help what you feel in the mood to read!

Great idea for a video mate!

You want to read one of the greatest graphic novels of all-time?? Then grab a copy of
"Doctor Strange & Doctor Doom: Triumph & Torment" from the late 1980s. This little
gem tells the tale of Strange & Doom, joining forces to combat the legions of hell, in
order to free Doom's mother's soul from the clutches of Mephisto. It's written by classic
Spider-Man scribe; Roger Stern, along with art by the amazing Mike Mignola. This might
very well be the greatest work Mignola has ever done on any work. This is a brilliant story of
lost love, redemption, honor, fantasy, and spectacle. I promise you; once you've read it, you'll keep
coming back to it over and over again. A timeless classic.

This is such a great concept for a video. I loved your script and enjoyed your subtle jokes. We’ll done!!

I'm a fairly new reader and with some people you do get the impression that if you have read certain works you aren't a part of the community and that sucks so I respect you doing this.

I only started reading Usagi Yojimbo recently and it's great. You will live it when you get the chance to get in to. It.

My own most noteworthy not read is probably Bone or The Walking Dead. Bone I'm looking forward to reading with my eldest and I'm waiting on that.

I'm a die-hard Sandman fan. Most days of the week, the series is my favorite comic, full stop. That said, I have some thoughts for you.

When I first read the early volumes as a teen, Sandman didn't blow me away. It was only as I revisited the series over the years and found the stories in it more fresh and exciting over time that my appreciation of Sandman grew to the point it is today. Odds are good, you're not going to be bowled over on your first read-through. So, let that go. Even if you don't understand a lot of the history and mythology Neil Gaiman weaves into the issues, Sandman is a fun read. Waiting to be wowed is going to ruin a lot of that fun.

You don't need to read the whole thing from end-to-end either. Sandman is a patchwork of stories and there's lots of good places to hit the pause button and pick up something else and revisit the series later.

Speaking for my own overlooked books, I've read only a third of Bone — planning to pick it up again and read the rest sometime soon. Also, I've barely read *anything* by Grant Morrison (just Arkham Asylum) — I have a lot of their books on my shelf, but I haven't gotten to them yet :(

The Sandman really is worth it. It is the reason why I am doing an English Literature degree as it has been probably the biggest influence on me in my life, more than anything else I have listened to, read, and watched.

Hey! Being a huge fan of your number 1 pick...I would recommend one thing...just get on with it.

Don't 'prepare' for it. Don't think you will miss out on how 'ideally' you should experience it if you aren't well prepared for it.

Trust me. The more you 'prepare' for it, the less enjoyable it will be. Just go all guns blazing with no base understanding and follow the order of the releases.

The best experience of this masterpiece is with no baseline.

I hope you will and I will be looking forward for a review from you about it in the near future man!
