It’s amazing the difference between zone 7 and 8! My parents garden has really filled in well now in its 4th year.

Unfortunately Covid has hit me hard, so I’ll be MIA until I recover. Wishing you all a safe, happy, and HEALTHY holiday weekend!

Take care of yourself Brie. Your mom coming out of the house with a small watering can tickled me. Their house is beautiful and we know where you got the green thumbs. Love the pool🌱❤️🐕🐕

I'm so sorry to hear that you're fighting covid. ☹️ I caught it on my daughter's birthday 4 weeks ago. Definitely not the way you want to kick off the summer! Your parents' garden is so beautiful, and as a fellow zone 7b resident, I feel your pain when you say that you wish we could grow some of the plants they have had success growing. 🤩🌿 Hope you're feeling better soon, and thank you for sharing such an inspirational space! ❤️

I thought everyone in Aken had a horse 🐎 ... soil cubes all you need is bubba & a pickup for local manure

Love the garden! The driveway bed is my favorite area! Is that Pink Muley grass that’s mixed in with the zinnias? HOAs can get out of control. Hard to imagine getting in trouble for something so pretty! Nuts! Glad to have moved out of my HOA neighborhood. Happy 4th! Get well soon!!!

Dear Brie, so sorry to hear you are sick, and I hope you feel better soon! Thanks to you and your parents for sharing their wonderful garden with us! I was wondering, is Pycnanthmum easy to propagate through cuttings? Or can it be divided and moved easily? If so, when would be a good time? Thanks!

The camelia, my guess is, you may try Amonium sulfate and iron sulfate fertilise to make the soil more acid . Amoniumsilfate somution: you may also spray a solution on the leaves, when the waether is clouded for some time. The existing leaves may not recover, but in my case the new growth came out perfect .

Uh oh. Are you feeling ok? The front driveway bed is stunning! For more color, I think dahlias would work well.

Have you had any problems with your Soil3? I don’t want to elaborate here. Your folks’ garden looks great!

On the subject of HOAs, I was president of an HOA for the 6 years that I owned my son's college townhome in Fort Collins, CO. I managed with a very light hand and the owners expressed how sad they were when my son graduated and I sold the property. The best advice I can give is to read, and I mean READ, your governing documents. If there is not an explicitly written restriction or prohibition in the covenants, then the HOA cannot state that there is one. Governing documents are not opinions and tastes, and HOA boards cannot enforce them as such. The saying "it is what it is" certainly applies to association documents, and if it isn't prohibited, then I always followed with the question, "show me where that is in writing....?"
