I'm 53 and happy to say my mom and dad are still with me!

losing your parent in your teenage years robs you of so much growth and friendship with the people you love most

I miss my mom. She just passed today. She was attacked by lung cancer in her late 50s and sadly passed I'll love her forever.

My almost 70 year old grandmother can finally say this. Her father just passed away recently at the age of 96. She's happy that he's no longer suffering health issues, but we all miss him.

I wasn't expecting this to get so heartfelt, but I'm not complaining.
It's a good reminder to value the time you have with the ones you love, especially the older you get.

The last line literally broke me. Please appreciate your parents. They're doing the best they can, and they LOVE you. I am a 13 year old girl, and I LOVE my mom and dad more than anything! It'll always stay that way.

I’m 15 and my dad died a few months ago. Due to reasons unknown to me. My mom’s been absent my entire life. The last one hit really hard

I lost my mom over 10 years ago. When I dream about her, it is like a gift from heaven.

38 years old, I lost my mum at 19 (47) and dad at 32 (66) both to cancer so the last part really hits right in the feels 😢 Treasure the time you have with your loved ones people because one day they'll be gone.

Edit: woah this blew up.
1. Thank you to those concerned for my health and yes I try to get some screening.
2. I meant I was 19 /32 years old when my parents died not that they were those ages lol.
3. For those who do not have good relationships with parents I understand and feel that pain too, I wasn't trying to diminish your loss. I'll just say we have the opportunity to be better people and learn from our parents mistakes.

I'm glad I never said I hate my parents, even when they made me angry. Parents are usually the only people you can truly trust, if they're a good parent to say the least. Make sure to tell them you love them, and help them with the challenges that life brings to the table.

Stay alive! (Both literarily and figuratively)

I'm 17 years old and my dad unexpectedly died a month ago. Please, please, please, please appreciate your parents and show them you love them. There are so many things that I regret not saying

This genuinely made me cry. Especially since the last one is said so much softer than all the others.

i did hate my mom and dad 12-14 but now i’m 15 turning 16 in a few months and my perspective of them as changed so much, it’s my parents first time at life too, raising a bunch of kids wasn’t easy for them and it doesn’t make it any easier if their own kids hate them

Hit in the feels. 25 years since Dad went through the gate. Still miss him every single day. Never a day in 40 years before was I mad at him. Always work out a mutual forgiveness. Enjoy them while they are here, so you don't regret when they are gone. I have no regrets.

But, not all are as lucky as me. Never stand for abuse. Leave that or seek help.

I'm glad I've never said that I hate my parents, even as a teenager. I'm 20 now and living at home, I'm graduating from trade school in a month and they're so supportive and excited for me.

I'm very blessed to spend this much quality time with them in my young adulthood.
