For patching, it's good to sand, wipe, apply the patching, and repeat as necessary. The number of the sand paper is the "grit." Grit is essentially how rough the sand paper is. The higher the number, the finer the grit. It's easier to patch using a wider putty knife. Great job!

I love the look of lime wash, and the idea of a hanging light in the corner. That would free up room on the lil desk too!
I wonder if you might want some sort of curtain thing in that walkway, just thinking feng shui here and how you might feel exposed with your head towards the entry of the bedroom/not able to see what's coming in.

For filling up the holes, get a wall plug to fill in the hole, then put the putty over it!

It looks awesome so far! Have you thought about a solid piece of wood that you stain in the same walnut color as the desk and side table to go along the top of the dressers? It will give it more of a built in look
