I think this message is a bit pigeon holing. I work at a catastrophic insurance company that specializes in hurricane, earthquake and fire coverage. we mostly target condos and office buildings along the east coast and west coasts. We are not investing our premiums in oil companies or really....in general. We don't insure projects and we tend to avoid gas stations in general: ya'know...because gas and fire love each other. What we are noticing is that smaller insurance companies are going out of business because when the back to back hurricanes came and they had to pay large amounts of claims, their pool ran out and it didn't make sense for them to keep going down this path. so now demand is higher, supply is lower, so premiums are climbing drastically. I'm not sure which insurance companies are profiting from climate change and investing in oil projects, but maybe we should find out who they are and call them out directly. Because from my perspective, most insurance companies are trying to figure out how to account for climate change in their underwriting models so they don't bankrupt in the next climate related catastrophic event.
