Organist Jonathan Scott plays his solo organ arrangement of Saint-Saëns "Organ" Symphony on the Pipe Organ of Ripon Cathedral!

I am in awe of this wonderful cathedral and the sound of the magnificent organ. The scenery is complete with the super organist Jonathan playing by candlelight.

It is grand and I listen quite often!! Love Ripon (even though Thing 🤚 creeped me out first time I saw it🤦‍♀️) 👏👏🎹🎶

Cathedral organs are awesome enough in the present day. But to know that even larger, more complex ones were built more than 400 years ago, with no wires or electronic controls, just pneumatic tracking from the keys, through the stops, to the pipes, powered and controlled by the air pressure of groups of small boys in the basement furiously pumping bellows, while the organist sat at the keyboard.

Pipe organs are some of the most complex devices ever built.
