Just stopping to write a comment as I was fascinated watching this video. You explained everything so so well and the set up of the various cameras was amazingly professional. It makes me want to buy a Nokia listed in the description, from eBay just to play around and try it. Nokia's are hella' sexy phones! Awesome video cheers! Liked!

Having kept a Nokia Lumia 720 I can totally understand and appreciate the idea of giving it some more life, a taste of Android now that WP is officially dead : this phone is a beauty, and a pocketable one ! I probably won't try the manipulation right now though...
I'm amazed by the performances, after all the hardware already was on the weak side at launch time, so by today's standards... How does it perform when using apps, that might be the issue.

well, today I found my old Lumia 820 and tried to do something for it, oh yeah, with all the risks:) It's Lumia 820, I followed your tutorial here, and it R.I.P since 15:00. It could not reboot at that moment. Now, it's been packed up and kept in my cupboard to be remembered for its glorious history :D

For anyone trying to do this with a SAMSUNG eMMC:
- This was my experience today (3rd Sept 2019).
- @10:50 he goes through whether it is safe to proceed, based on whether you have a Samsung Chip or not.
- I have a Samsung chip.
- I wanted to try it anyway (given this video was made in 2017 and it is now 2019, hoping the issue had been fixed by now).
- I went ahead and when I clicked "Continue" @ 13:17, the program displayed "Processing resources", but then it stalled afterwards (? "sending bootloader" or something). I waited 20 minutes, nothing changed. It never got to "Flashing Unlocked Bootloader (seen @ 13:45).
- So, I unplugged it.
- It was bricked.
- I did a hard reset (power button + volume down) several times, then opened Windows Device Recovery Tool.
- At first, this failed.
- I did a hard reset, then tried again in Windows Device Recovery Tool.
- It stalled while transferring the emergency firmware (took forever). So I unplugged it halfway through.
- By this stage, I was sure that I had 100% bricked it.
- I tried another hard reset. Then windows device recovery tool.
- This time it recognised the device, but said it had "unknown firmware".
- This time, it transferred the firmware onto the device (the red Nokia screen. Took 5 mins).
- But then it didn't boot up.
- So I went through the entire process again.
- THE SECOND TIME IT WORKED.
- The phone is back to exactly the way it was before I tried unlocking the bootloader.

I'm not saying that you will be able to resurrect the situation if you take massive risks like I did. Maybe I got very lucky. You probably won't be so lucky.

But the take home message is - keep trying Windows Device Recovery Tool over and over and over, doing a hard reset each time. It just might work for you, if you've already bricked your Lumia. Maybe. Good luck.

hey, after 27:53, my device (lumia 521) wont turn on, i can connect it to my pc and it makes a sound on my pc, but it can't detect the device, when i try windows device recovery tool, it doesnt detect it either, I think it is bricked how do i fix? i have a back up saved like the video told me to
