How Much Better James Webb Space Telescope First Images Are Compared To Hubble Space Telescope ?
NASA has just released The James Webb Space Telescope first full-color images of the following targets :
1. SMACS 0723 is a massive foreground galaxy clusters magnifying and distorting the light of galaxies behind them, permitting a deep field view into both the extremely distant and faint galaxies.
2. The Southern Ring, which is a planetary nebula of an expanding cloud of gas, surrounding a dying red giant star. It is approximately half a light-year in diameter and is located roughly at 2,000 light-years away from Earth.
3. The Carina Nebula which is one of the largest and brightest nebula in the heavens, located roughly at 7,600 light-years away from Earth.
4. Stephan’s Quintet which is the first compact galaxy group ever discovered in 1877. Four of the five galaxies within the Stephan’s Quintet are locked in a cosmic dance of repeated close encounters and are located roughly at 290 million light-years away from Earth.

This targets were also observed by Hubble Space Telescope).

The James webb images are composed of images at different wavelengths taken with NIRCam and MIRI cameras.
In this video, I try to illustrate the difference between HST and JWST power by matching up the images so they represent the same parts of the sky.
I overlayed the newly released James Webb Space Telescope images with the ones taken by Hubble.
We can see clearly the high resolution of JWST first images.

The James Webb image of the cluster SMACS 0723 is the Webb’s First Deep Field and the first image ever to be released to the public on 11/07/2022.
To show the power of JWST, The Webb’s First Deep Field image was captured using only 12.5 hours of exposure time, meanwhile Hubble took more than 2 weeks. Yet, The Webb’s First Deep Field image contains much more details.

James Webb Space Telescope is the next generation space observatory following Hubble, designed to answer outstanding questions about the Universe that we don't even know yet and to make breakthrough discoveries in all fields of astronomy. JWST will see farther into our origins from the formation of stars and planets to the birth of the first galaxies in the early Universe.
