Zhiyun crane 2 follow focus does not work with Canon 5D Mark IV and 24-70mm 2.8 II

I have a defective Zhiyun crane 2. Follow focus on Canon 5D Mark IV + Canon 24-70mm 2.8L II lens.

The lens is on manual focus mode. When I move the camera around, focus moves automatically. The slightest touch of the focus knob and focus jumps from closest to infinity.

I've tried adjusting the sensitivity of the focus knob to no effect.

Working with Zhiyun to get a return. Will post back on the results.

Update 2/11/2018:

Response from Zhiyun tech (BTW, I purchased this through their website):

"Hello,

due to network problem, we cannot open your youtube video.
If lens sensitive cannot adjust by the screen setting, sorry now we don't have other way to setting it, different lens, this sensitive is really different. we are try to upgrade firmware to solve this problem, but still need to waiting for update.
If you cannot waiting, within 7 days, please contact seller for refund service. THANKS. "

Apparently the crane 2 follow focus feature will not work with 24-70 2.8mm L II lens. I have confirmed that follow focus works with my other canon lenses.

In case you or anyone else are still having this problem, you are actually supposed to set your lens to AF, and with both the camera and Crane 2 powered down, you power on the Crane 2 first, and then the camera second. This has worked for all of my Canon lenses.

I had exactly the same problem. Fortunately I was able to contact customer service. The trick is that you should use autofocus mode, not manual. And you need to turn on the gimbal first, then the camera. Otherwise it won't work. No need to worry about the cable.

Put switch on lens to AF. In camera menu disable movie servo AF. The follow focus wheel should work as its meant to then.

I have the Crane 3. Same problem with 5D mark iv. When I disable movie AF Servo and put the lens on AF, the pull focus works but the sensitivity cannot be adjusted. I takes ten or more full turns of the wheel to move through the entire focus range.

video the cable is a wrong one, or the use wrong side for camera. For Canon cable, the camera side, cable shouldn't be L-shape, it is straight head.

Turn of Movie servo AF on 5DM4, on zhiyun set wheel>sensi>low, on 24-70 switch to auto af

I've crane 2 and Mark iv. I couldn't find this connecting cable between camera and crane 2. Is this available in Crane 2 packaging?

Like another commenter said, you may have wrong cable for Canon?
I have an 80D with Sigma 18-35 and the follow focus doesn't work when lens set to manual and when in AF mode, it works but the camera AF fights the changes making it sporadic and unusable! Not sure if it works with Canon lens, I will try it and report back. If you still have to gimbal, can you please test the motion time lapse feature for still photos, mine goes through the set movements but does not trigger the shutter to fire. Zhiyun said they will release firmware update but I'd like to see if it works on yours?

Two things!

First: Go to menu -> Camera -> choose Canon

Second: Use the right cabel. The “L-head” goes into the crane, not the camera.

Hope this helps! :)

I had exactly the same problem with the same equipment.
I modified the set up of the lens, of the 5d and verified the cable and now everything works perfectly. If you are interested, i can send you pictures of the solution... Let me know
