Consumersim and wage slavery go hand in hand. Wage slavery eats your time and energy while consumersim eats your money you got from wage slavery so both trap us in the endless cycle of work - consume.

It's such an awful feeling. I can't enjoy Saturday because my mind is coming down from work and everything is busy because all the other wage slaves are running errands. I feel a little better on Sunday, but there's not enough time to do anything meaningful. Holidays are the same way. I only enjoy time off during the week when there is no holiday.

It’s nice to know that I’m not alone in this world. It’s a kind of comfort.
Greetings from Norway.

Once again Tom, great content. I remember several years ago I was on a beach in Aruba, dreading to go back to work. I hate this system. You can push it out of your mind but it's always there. Never had a felt more like a prisoner.

I never set an alarm because I don’t want to condition myself more than I have to. Quiet quitting and using this wage to help free myself in the future. Stay focused

Greetings from Germany. I also hate the fact, that I have to go to work. The rat race, every day is basically the same and most of all the facade one has to keep up in order to get along with your workmates..

Vacation in 2 weeks, I will have 4 weeks vacation and when I come back I will have severe anxiety from the prison work.
Just the thought of waking up at monday and enter the train and see all the sad faces of all the wage slaves is soul crushing.
I literally feel the emptiness in the air when I sit there and travel to work.

A few more tips...for me, going back to work is easier now because of my mental shift. I'm so detached mentally from others that I don't feel my "footprint" when I'm at work. I focus on my needs first. Never become part of the furniture. When I get back, I say openly to whoever, not to expect much from me because I have to ease myself back to this shit. I know it takes a certain personality for this attitude, but it works for me.

Well put. I often feel a "depression" on the flight home or last day...then a melancholy for about a week after...thinking of all the good times. I also have a mini version of this every Sunday afternoon.

Everyday, the realization that I have to work in order to have a roof over my head and food in my belly is soul crushing. I don't know how people work year after year, decade after decade. I just don't get it. I never last longer than 2 years at a place. Even if I can tolerate it. We're just not meant to be bound.

Do you dread going back to work after vacation?

I’m 100% in agreement. Sunday depression in addition to routine depression justifies me working from home at least..best of luck starting your own path. Cheers!

I was hired at a company half way through a calendar year. The next summer, at my 12 month anniversary date, I wanted to take my allotted holiday. NOPE! they pointed out in the contract it said you had to work 12 calendar months and they interpreted that to 12 months in the same year. So if you were hired February, you would have to work 10 months that year, then ALL the following year, then you could take holidays (for 2 weeks) after the start of the next year, the beginning of your third year working there. Insane! I quit on my 2nd anniversary there after only having 5 holiday days off but as per legal requirement I got a LOT of held back holiday pay when I quit!

I'm almost 7 month pregnant and soon, I'll leave for an extended maternity leave (counting down the days). I have never had this much work to do and I'm so very fed up... Like it's not enough that I'm tired all the time, but now I feel even more presurred than ever, with tasks and projects and trainings and whatnot. I'll be mentally drained by the time baby arrives 😵‍💫

The good thing about America is that we get so little vacation time and so few opportunities to feel that "going back" anxiety!
(Only partially kidding)

Congrats on 'completing' the legal process, hope this resolves some issues between you and the family, so you all can just focus on grieving!

I remember BTW anxiety, makes me so grateful to be retired coming up to 4 years. I worked for the government for 36 years and have 1 of those amazing pension schemes that paid me more to retire before 55. My pension is a lot more than my salary ever was and goes up with cpi every 6 months. I do what I want every day and have no timetables. I structure my days to avoid peak traffic, attend the shops/gym etc when it's quiet and most people are at work. I no longer have sunday anxiety because every day feels like friday. I often forget what day it is. I play tennis 3 times a week at different times so that helps me remember what day it is, otherwise I'd have to google it most days. It's fantastic.
