They talking about sleeping and waking up. We had to iron our utilities in the middle of the night. I was the second to last group to get utilities before the NWU blue camouflage uniforms and the NSUs.

That bit about the shaving was funny.
Even though I went in at age 30 (RTC GL, 94-176), my facial hair grew VERY slowly. I could shave on Monday night and not have to shave again until Wednesday morning.
I preferred shaving at night. There wasn't a huge line waiting to use the sinks.

I remember the experience. I got off the bus, and as soon as I entered the building, I was so nervous I vomited in a trash can.

I went to Navy Boot Camp in 1977, and though I know it wasn’t as difficult as Marines, it certainly was much more “in your face” and stressful than this. Someone mentioned a nightstick pounding on a trash can for a wake up call……yes, yes! And my Company Commander singing the 4 letter word chorus.

I was in not camp in '74, and I can't believe the difference! The kids didn't shave and was just told, "go shave?! My CC would have had his ass!
