I can attest this is true, I moved from El Dorado county Ca, to Ohio, first day I mowed the grass, I stopped under a tree to wipe sweat. In Ca it is cooler under the trees, in Ohio that humidity is everywhere, was no cooler under the tree than out in the sun

This is Evaporative Cooling, and you can experience this for yourself. Spray down a metal pan with starting fluid and touch it as soon as it's all gone. It'll feel cold.
