Video Transcript:
What is the E-learning?
The Skills System E-Learning is an online learning program that teaches people how to manage feelings and provide skills coaching. The E-Learning is fun, practical, and a great value.
There are two courses: Course 1 Skills Basics and Course 2 Skills Coaching Strategies. Everyone who wants to learn skills does Course 1 Skills Basics- Individuals, direct support staff, and family members. Anyone who wants to help individuals use skills, such as staff and family members, also complete Course 2 Skills Coaching Strategies.
The E-Learning is an important training tool, because it helps individuals and support providers get on the same page and work together.
What is the E-Learning like?
The E-Learning is flexible. You can do the E-Learning courses on any device: phone, tablet, laptop or desktop. You can do the lessons at your own pace. You can complete the lessons independently or collaboratively with another person.
Each course will take between 2 and 3 hours to complete. I recommend doing the Lessons a few at a time, so you can absorb the information.
The videos are short, engaging, and colorful- not boring like the usual E-Learning. The exercises are designed to help you learn the material- not just stress you out. You earn badges and Letters of Completion for passing each course. There are also 6 free CEU’s if you need them!
• If you want to hear what other people think of the courses- Check out the E-Learning Testimonials on the E-Learning tab.
People report they like the E-Learning. They say it helped them learn skills they can use at work -and in their own lives.
How do we get access to the E-Learning?
There are two ways to get access to the E-Learning.
• You can purchase a membership through the Skills System website. Check out the E-Learning tab for more information.
• You can also be added as a member by someone who has a Group membership. For example, your agency may have a Group membership of 50 to train all of the staff at your program. That person adds your name and email to their member list and you get access to the E-Learning.
• Either way- the E-Learning is the same: Course 1 Skills Basics and Course 2 Skills Coaching Strategies.
What are the different E-Learning Memberships?
There are three types of E-Learning memberships: Individual, Group and Clinician.
• Individual memberships: An Individual membership gives you access to the E-Learning.
• Group Memberships: If you want others to join the E-Learning, you can get a Group membership. Groups can be any size. Each Group membership has an administrator. The administrator adds the names and emails of people they would like to do the E-Learning.
o People working in therapeutic, residential, and day settings learn skills and coaching strategies use Group E-Learning memberships.
o Group membership spaces are not transferable.
• Clinician Memberships: Practitioners, who want to teach skills to individuals, the individual’s family members, and people outside of the agency can purchase a Clinician membership. Giving access to skills and skills coaching strategies to collateral supports is a way to increase integration, communication, generalization of skills, and co-regulation.
o Clinician memberships are transferable.
o Unlike Group memberships, administrators of Clinician memberships can add and remove members from the E-Learning.
For example, an social worker who has a Clinician membership can add an adolescent client, the client’s family members, and other people in the individual’s support system- like their guidance counselor at school.
When the youth is discharged, the social worker can remove the individual and their collateral supports and add another client and their natural supports to the E-Learning.
What type of membership should we get?
• If you are training staff at your program, you should get a Group Membership.
• If you are an outpatient therapist or case coordinator at a residential or day program who interacts with individuals and their natural supports, you will want to get a Clinician Membership.
Agencies that support individuals with complex needs often use both Group and Clinician memberships.
If we are going to help individuals co-regulate with people in their lives, we have to provide opportunities to people in their environment to learn skills and skills coaching strategies.
Thanks for watching!
