The Valar are the Gods who serve under Eru Ilúvatar in J.R.R. Tolkien’s works. Each serves a different purpose in Eru’s mind, and stewards a different part of the world. Thank you all so much for watching, as always, I really appreciate it! Let me know what you think about the Valar in the comments below. As always, a great thanks to the online artists whose visual works made this video possible! If you are one of the artists, please let me know and I will post your name and a link to your work in this description!

This man made a universe as deep as all of Greek mythology in his lifetime. Really speaks to the capability of people with imagination.

There's so much life in the myth of LOTR that it almost seems real.

There's such rich background lore in Tolkien's work. Wish that Tolkien had created more novels. While I greatly enjoy the movies and video games that do try to expand on Tolkien's writings, I just feel sometimes only the artist that first created the work can do it justice.

Your channel is a goldmine of knowledge, Yoisten. Keep doing what you're doing. We love it, with every video. I know I most certainly do.

Isn't it kinda ironic that Nienna is the Valar of sadness, but Gandalf, her student, gave hope to the fellowship through Narya?

Hey everyone, I hope you all enjoyed the video! Let me know what you thought about it, and also let me know what your favorite Vala is! For me, I think it is between Oromë the Hunter for his kindness to nature and the Elves, and Tulkas for just being beyond epic in his fight against Melkor. What about you all? I agree that favorites can change the more we read and learn, but as of now, who is your favorite?
Updated thoughts: After more years of reading and reflecting, as of February of 2020 I would have to say my favorite Vala is currently Ulmo, as he participated more than the other Valar in aiding the Children of Ilúvatar against Morgoth!

My favourite is Varda. I just love her association with the stars, and the poems about her are so beautiful. I also love Mandos, he is so strange and otherwordly, his speech during the couincils is so simple and every word feels like it's very important.

"As Illuvitar's Light shined in her face." *Cut to Illuvitar irritating Varda with blazing holy laser pen*

The movies touched on like 5% of the lore of LOTR lol

The Valar the names Tolkien give to characters, places, and events are timeless yet elegant.

The Simarillion is the Masterpiece of Tolkien. It’s so good, he didn’t have to finish it! Christopher pieced it together.

This is why I love Tolkien so much, and why _The Silmarillion_ is my favorite of his books, if not my favorite book ever.

Digging the new intro man, phenomenal video like always. You're one of the best YouTubers for Tolkien content, if not THE best!

Wow, thank you for creating this representation. I have been a Tolkien fan for decades and appreciate this illustration of the Silmarillion. It gives me a way to present this great story to my grandchildren! I will be subscribing to this channel and can see I have to catch up on previous releases!

I love watching this video while drinking my coffee in the morning...I don't know why but it's become like a habit of mine, it brings me back to that feeling I had when I was like 7 and I watched the LOTR movies for the first time, it feels like home...
