5 STEPS TO BETTER KICKFLIPS

The Purpose of Braille Skateboarding is to grow the number of people who skateboard by teaching, motivating, and inspiring. We do this by making skateboard tutorial videos covering every how to skateboard video under the sun moon and stars. By learning ourselves and showing that no matter how old or young, you can learn to skate. Part of this is also providing a suggested path to take in learning to skate. Then we inspire NEW people to learn to skate by making videos outside the very small world of skateboarding. We turn an ipad into a skateboard, skate on a big screen TV, and even a door. We focus not only on the creativity here but building the board and then all the way through to seeing what tricks can be done on it. Skaters have always been a creative bunch of people they take the normal ideas of society and change it to create their own world. Most people see a set of stairs we see a kick flip going down them. Our goal here is to take people that may never have thought of skateboarding before and get them on a board.

I have created many ways to achieve the above goal and will list them all below. Different ways for different people so have a look through and see what fits you best.

I've been trying kIckflips for 4 months and consistently could only land my front foot on. Other people would say you're just not jumping. But for some reason just hearing bend your back knee unlocked my kickflips. I landed my first one about 10 minutes after watching this. Bend your knee > jump above. Thank you so much Aaron!

I got back at skating, after pausing for about 6 years. I'm 26 and at first I thought I couldn't do it, but thanks to Braille, I am already better than in my teenage years.

ABOUT THE KICKFLIP: That little hint of Aaron's is so absurdly helpful (at least it was to me). Watch your nose, while doing the trick. Watch your foot flick. I swear, I got my kickflips right the second I remembered that one tip. Try it!!!

I love Aaron Kyro, I skated when I was 11 or 12 till i was about 16 or 17. I had some cool tricks down until I quit. I have started back up and got most of my tricks back and I am 21 now, and this was because I started watching all of his videos. He has inspired me to try again, he has made everything easier, and he has also made things a lot more fun, that even my fiance is getting into it. I bought his tiger pro deck 7.75 and I was skating 7.5 which he also inspired me to buy a bigger deck which has proven to be a great decision. Thank you so much Aaron Kyro for how you have changed my life. I would also love to play Lance at a game of skate, because that is about my level of skating (yep not afraid to admit it)(no offence Lance, people are amazing at skating and we are sub-par), maybe a little better or worse, give or take, which would be a great video for your channel. I've watched all of your videos and I chose this video to randomly decide to write a comment on what I have wanted to say about the last month of my life.

Hey man,
I started skateboarding in college at 25, I'm touching 34 and havent skated in a long time, I picked it back up a few months ago, never got the kickflip down... It's always been on my bucket list to get it down one day. I watched this video and figured out why I could never land the trick. It was the dreaded flick down! Front foot! Any way I landed it !! After almost 10 Thanks you man, I can die happy now.. 😀

This is one of your best videos ever. Not only is it great for kickflips, but I think it's helpful for doing tricks in general. The bending the back knee thing is definitely my weakest point in skating. I can do kickflips, but I tend to land with my back foot too far off the board, like major to minor toe drag. The more I commit and bend my back knee the less toe drag I get. I think most of my other issues outside of commitment, are just improper weight distribution. I think the only thing you could have touched on more was just speed of the pop/flick. I feel like the faster I flick the better chance I have of actually getting the kickflip. When it flips too slow it's just a mess and pretty much a recipe for primo, but I know you've covered that in other videos.

For people who are trying to kick/heel flip, this tip might help too. Instead of where you look, what help me the most is shoulders position. For kickflips, let your shoulders straight to the board (aligned with the board). For heelflip turn it a little back, that is why Aaron aways says to look to your heels, because when you crouch looking to your heels your front shoulder will be turned to your back

where were you when i was a kid, i could have used your advise on how to do a kickflip because i use to kick down on the board and had no idea how to actually do it now im an old fart and all i can think of is how much fun i use to have when i skated. i even have this CRAZY idea of getting back on a board after more than 25 years

This helped a lot with understanding doing tricks not just kickflips. Because I've experienced that if I don't mentally tell myself to stay centered and to not lean in a different direction because of fear then I'll probably do the trick in my attempt will be even closer than when I leaned away from it.

I spend a lot of time skating alone in my basement now that it's snowy in Rhode Island. You are literally my savior when it comes to learning new tricks. Also my savior when I need some entertainment and wanna watch someone skate toilet paper. You're the man!!!

I really don’t know why some people don’t like his videos I honestly feel like this was the most helpful kickflip video.I also like how he mentions that you need to bend your knee and I never knew that and because of that little step I’m so close to getting my kick flip, like a basically got it!
