MTE P3I8 and WiRib concept

Показать описание
( Prototype #3 Iteration #8 )
A 3D printed concept for a morphing wing. The TE has a skin of 0.025 in thick. A lip around 1/4" from either end allows an oscispine rib to be slotted into the wing. This model also has a slot for a servo motor to sit on top of the wing to allow deflection. This concept did not work with an Oscispine rib and control horn which are not one piece.
Secondly, the WiRib concept is demonstrated, where a hole pierced through the top and bottom of the oscispine rib allow a wire to be inserted. When stressed, the wire induces upward and downward deflection in the rib. This concept will be explored in future modelling.

This is a very interesting self scooping spatula.

Sailplanes and Hang-gliders need you! As a pilot of a glider who nearly died due to a lack of control on a glider, I ask you to please persist and change micro aviation in your future career. It will be a good one. Don't listen to foolish negative opinions. The Wright Bro's would be proud of you. You GO!

What do you think about using "bimetal" ? No servo, just batterij and switch needed.

Keep the thickness of the ribs lower. We attempted such a design two years ago and we did it with two internal servos and internal connectors.

Have you tried to pull both /top&bottom/ simultenously? Makes the chord shorter but thckness larger.

Hello Benjamin Moulton
How are you ? I hope you are good

Sorry for my sudden intrusion. I have a strange request for you. I saw on your YouTube channel a video that you shared 4 years ago about the 3D printing morphing wing. This video explains the results of the project that you did. It was a very beautiful project and it caught my attention. I hope you can give me all the steps you took to achieve these wonderful results. I have a job that is very similar to the work I did, so I hope you can help me benefit from your own experience. I know this is a very strange request, but I would be very happy if you could help me It is better for the design to be in the OnShape program, or if there is a program that helped you with this design, tell me about it and send me ready-made files to print in a 3D printing press, knowing that the material I will use is TPU.

Wing morphing is just a new name for "wing Warping". This idea of wing warping dates back to the Wright Brothers when they made the First recognized powered flight at Kitty Hawk, NC on Dec 17, 1903. Your idea is not new at all ! ! !
