For some reason I have to mention on nearly every video that while we welcome comments we do not put up with vulgarities, conspiracy theories or allegations of criminal behaviour. Please keep it clean, folks. Don't make me delete again.

"peer review" is one of the greatest grifts in academic research. Within this grift are 3 lies: 1. the "peers" 2. the "review" and 3. political money attached to the "peer review" consequences. No "peer" is going to negatively "review" any paper that is connected in any way to grants from a government body.

I worked in Structural Steel for several years, I would imagine about 90% of buildings would collapse if Engineering Peer Review were the same "Climate Peer Review".

As an adult, witnessing so many examples of corruption in the broad scientific community is a little like finding out your favorite childhood super heroes were going back to rob the bank after busting the bad guys . Heartbreaking and emotionally exhausting.

A friend of mine who is a researcher (associate professor) discussed this topic a couple of years ago. He said that of all the research papers he prints out, to read, he has to throw away 60% because they are rubbish.

As a Florida resident, most of us know that when someone's beach home is ten feet above sea level, it's going to end in an insurance claim. Hopefully the occupant evacuates.

I used to work for John Wiley & sons many years ago, my job was to coordinate with editorial boards to manage peer review. This is not a new problem, editorial board members tend to only take on the job for kudos or power over what is published.

There were 3 people working together, Peter Bagosian, Helen Pluckworth and James that wrote articles as spoofs which they were able to get through peer review and get them published.

I recall John Stossel did an exposé on peer reviewed papers where a group of academics got together and wrote an outlandish paper for submission, and it passed. Great story here. There is so much information to digest in a video, so it is great to read the articles.
