how i sew my POINTE SHOES!

bruh one time after sewin my shoes my grandma saw them and took them and knowing nothing about ballet was like THESE SHOES ARENT SEWED WELL and legit stuck my shoe into the freaking sewing machine and made like 10 lines on each elastic using YELLOW THREAD ugh it was horrible

I always try to only sew through the inner layer of my pointe shoes so that you can‘t see it from the outside. Also, I think there‘s pointe shoes in every shade from brown to white because originally, it was supposed to look like the dancer was dancing barefoot so it had to match their skin tone

For performances I recommend sewing the ribbons in one strip. How to do it: take your long ribbon and cut it exactly in half. Take each half and tie it how you would if it were on a pointe shoe, with the right placement under the foot and the right amount of ribbon to tuck in. Then, put your pointe shoes on and mark on the inside of the shoes where the ribbons go and on the ribbons where the shoe hits. Take them off and get your thread ready. Next flip the ribbons over so that the mark is on the inside facing your foot. Make sure that the ribbons still fit correctly and that the outside ribbon is longer than the inside one. Next, sew them on in a s pattern, making sure not to touch the drawstring. The pattern looks like this:




Sew the other side and other shoe the same way. Then sew the elastics how she did in the video.
Why should you do this? Because if s ribbon comes unsewed, then the ribbon will not come loose or fall off. You will probably not notice, and when you get off stage or out of class, then you can fix it. Even if both sides come unsewed, the ribbons will stay on. Trust me, this has saved my ribbons many times.
