Screws vs H1? #engineering

These are not your average screw. 6" fully threaded screw can replace an H1. I asked @strongtie and the head size doesn't matter, the strength comes from the fully threaded length of the screw. What about shear and screws? Heat treating the screws gives them strength.

The SDWC is tested in accordance with ICC-ES AC233 (screw) and AC13 (wall assembly and roof-to-wall assembly) for uplift and lateral loads between wall plates and vertical wall framing and between the top plate and the roof rafters or trusses. It is code listed under IAPMO-UES ER-262 and meets 2018 and 2021 IRC® and IBC® code requirements for most common wood framing applications.

These are great! I used the 6”TimberLok (same idea) because it makes air sealing WAY easier - no obstructions at the top plate to work around.

Are full threaded screws a new thing in american framing? It's used in for years in europe

Im not convinced threads pullout is stronger than a nailed in tie relying on nail shear.
