Knowing God is one of the best books ever penned outside of Scripture itself. J.I. Packer is a master wordsmith...

I am so very thankful and blessed to hear J. I. Packer’s reflection on God’s command and desire for us to live a holy life that honors and glorifies Him as our Father. I’ve been blessed by this great presentation.

Knowing God is a masterpiece! It is also prophetic because it encourages, it exhorts and it comforts. Thank God for gracing us with this mighty servant of God.

Johnathan Edwards owned six slaves including Venus, Titus, Leah, Rose, Joseph and Sue. John Wesley was a keen abolitionist, speaking out and writing against the slave trade. Wesley denounced slavery as "the sum of all villainies" and detailed its abuses.

i do not understand why you have to compare jonathan edwards to john wesley, do u know them personally or do u just read from second hand sources and conclude your own thoughts about the two men? even if u do read a lot about them including autobiographies etc, i do not think it is fair to make comparisons between both men, not about their physical attributes, not about their ministry, faith, church, accomplishment and so on and so forth. it is like for example i compare J I Packer with John Piper, i can do that but i don't think i want to go there. So i am not sure, can it be because u want to say that one man is better than the other?

Most people regard themselves as being in control of their mental faculties, they have a reasonable concept of what is, or should be, acceptable behavior by members of the human race.
When we hear of atrocities committed by individuals or groups, public massacres, bombings, school shootings etc. we are usually shocked then outraged, feelings turn to revenge for the perpetrators regardless of what was in their minds at the time of the incidents, this is a very normal reaction.
But when the crime is committed by God then the reaction is different. When you read accounts of mass murder in your bible (which is supposed to be the word of God) then it's usually the fault of the victims and they deserved to be murdered.
If the reasoning in the minds of school shooters or public executioners is that the people they murdered were all bad we would regard that person as being completely and totally insane. Yet God gets away with it, Christians would never accept the premise that their God is as mad as a March hare.
He supposedly wiped out the whole population of the Earth because he determined they were bad and this is accepted as normal behavior by the majority of Christians. What double standards the Christian fraternity have. Within the populations of any large group of people there will always be a small minority who are totally bad, most people just want to live their lives without hurting anyone. If the policies of the leaders are seen as bad, E.G. child sacrifice then surely this loving compassionate God would find it within his powers to punish the leaders and perpetrators rather than murder everybody on the planet.
Your God is just as bad as anybody committing mass murder in our modern society. It's time we brought God to account within our own minds and discarded every aspect of this evil Christian religion.
