The DART mission is a seriously cool project. I was lucky enough to be on one of the teams observing the impact with telescopes on the ground in Kenya. It was one of the coolest experiences of my life to see that cloud of debris develop in real time.

I've been concerned about the heat shield tiles ever since they decided to go that route. That was a major issue with the space shuttle orbiters. Tile refurbishment was a nightmare and took forever. And if anything happens to them during any point in the mission, the entire crew is in jeopardy, as what happened to Columbia. Space X said they would sort of make it a little easier by using a standard shape for every tile. But it looks to me that about 30% of them are unique in shape and will only fit in one specific spot. There _must_ be a better way to do this.
