The greatest hurdle to spaceflight: Bureaucracy

its crazy how Starbase went from a tent and hoppy to a fully reusable rocket with ~2 launch towers that are the first of their kind

At that rate . I can afford to have my mother in-law shipped to space.

$15 a kilo? $1432 to launch my ass into space! LETS GO!!!

So now it’s cheaper to go into space then it is the fly across the country

At that price point, us regular folks could actually afford a ticket to space. I'd call that revolutionary.

The Starship and Booster are great outside the box thinking for cheap access to space. The extended grid fins might be designed to be used to provide lifting lugs for a tall tower water catapult.

Him: "As long as four commercial airlines."
Me: "OK, I know it's big, BUT THAT BIGGGG!!!?!?!?!?!?"

You know is cheap when astronauts start going home for lunch and then back to work 😅

Damn space faring being a commercial activity went from science fiction to possible reality in like a decade

LOL, The booster returns to the launchpad in about 8 minutes.

Turn around time currently seems to be limited by how fast the tanker trucks can refill the propellant tank farm.

Fetching another second stage from off-site requires an hour or two of road closure. SpaceX probably will end up moving multiple Starships in convoys at night.

Can the SPMTs be converted to drive around the launch site under remote control during hazardous times? Seems necessary in order to maximize the launch cadence.

I believe there is a video explaining and showing a starship orbiting earth and launching another starship from earth to refuel orbiting starship to then have enough fuel to make it to mars 🎉

so... does that mean I can go to space for 900$?

- Nothing ever gets as cheap as projected. The *Space Shuttle* is a good example.

I have set it so many times that space x leads the way

Be interesting if Starship could infuse dual bay doors like the space shuttle to release and capture payloads too and from earth for deployment and repair opportunities. Be able to create a gel that captures micro fragments in space and clean up ancient launch debris floating at high mph to make for safer space travel. And bring this debris back to earth for possible study and disposal.

At $15 per pound, I could launch myself into space for $1500. Sign me up.

Actually, starship is considerably ~80 years old, which puts the earthdwellers at least 80 years behind any other intelligence in the universe that has conquered space travel.

In the past there were lots of kick backs.

The greatest impediment to rapid turnaround is the development of reliable reentry heat shielding that does not require inspection, testing, and refurbishment.
The tiles currently in use cannot accomplish this. I wonder what R&D they are doing towards the future systems?
