The Ethiopian federal government is struggling to quell the insurgency in the Amhara region as the conflict has escalated in the last month and peace looks unlikely. So in this video, we'll explain the history of the region and what's happening right now.

The war in Ethiopia that happened during the Covid pandemic must be one of the least reported wars in the history of wars. Literally anybody I try to tell about it isn't aware that it even happened. It's estimated that possibly hundreds of thousands of people died.

Ethiopia reminds me of the former nation of Yugoslavia. They had a vast collection of ethnicities that went wild after the fall of a single party rule.

You Never mentioned that Amhara was ethnically cleansed from Oromo region and restricted from moving around in the country. The Orthodox community was also targeted due to the fact that the Orthodox Church was considered to be part of Amhara culture. These are the main reasons why Amhara has become rebellious.

To those wondering how this could be happening now when Ethiopa is such an incredibly old country that's been largely untouched by Europeans, you have to realize that for thousands of years, Ethiopia was just the regions of Amhara and Tigray. The Oromo, despite being the largest ethnic group in modern-day Ethiopia, were never even part of Ethiopia until the late 19th century when Menelik II basically quadrupled the size of the country.

A lot of stuff is wrong here. The main reason why the Amharas are not happy is because 1st the constitution includes clauses that classify the country by ethnic lines and second one that allows an ethnic region to declare indépendance. The Amharas belief the country stays the same. The Amharas are now fighting due to government sanctioned genocide of the same in Oromia region.
