I purchased the new mbox pro3 but the 2nd mic input its defective and the gain for the audio inputs is not responding so gotta return it and hopefully the new 1 will work

I've had Digi 001, 002, 003 and 003+ Rack, also the Eleven Rack and the new MBox Pro. The quality of the preamps and clock was dramatically improved on the 003+ and it was used in the 11R too. Now, the MBox is using the same clock, preamps and converters that the previous generation of HD interfaces had and can play/record at 192 Khz, which neither of the other interfaces can. I don't know why you state the 003 is "far superior" to the MBox Pro 3rd gen. The latest MBox 3 wins on every aspect.

FYI -- You cannot use Pro Tools LE without the Mbox, nor can you use a 3rd party interface. If you get the full version of Pro Tools, any interface will do, but if you get PT Express, you MUST have the Mbox to run the software.

My friend, iv'e been doing this for years upon years, the reason why the 003 is far more superior is because it's a convertable, upgradeable, and flexible unit. I'ts A/D converters can be upgraded at will, it's resistors, and transistors also..I'ts pre-amps can be switched to high powered pre-amps, and the overall sound quality can be tweaked to sound like a $10, 000 sounding pre-amp. Just call the company named Mad-Lion. These new units do not have the editable capability as the 003 unit.

Okay I'm asking help here even if this is an old video, I have old gear.
How to use/activate Inserts on a mbox pro 3 ? I have a Golden Age preamp which has a insert input (TRS) and FMR RNC compressor with in/out (both TS) inserts. When i plug them together, no problem. But As soon as I want to hook the FMR to the MBOX...Nothing happens. I dont find anything about inserts in Logic. In PT, it says that "output path is already in use..." This is really beyond my comprehension. Has anybody figured out how to use inserts on a mbox pro 3 ? When i check other videos, it's not about inserts, its just daisy chaining hardware in and out with hundred cables. An insert cable (1 TRS and 2 TS) is designed to save you lots of connections/cables as the TRS jack has send and return in the same cable.

mines acting up now using mbox 3 on Mac mini 2012 i5 use to work but now it just doesn't connects then it's goes sometimes tries to come back randomly but then losses connection I thought it was the firewire adapter but I bought a new one... think I might sale it fuck this I'm running el captain

que tal saludos de colombia, tengo una pregunta y es : que dice avid del defecto de fabrica de la mbox mini 3, de un momento a otro deja de funcionar sin solución alguna . incluso hay pos dedicados hablar de una posible solución ya que avid hasta el momento no se a pronunciado al respecto.

Without answering your point first, that doesn't make the 003 superior, it just would mean it has possibilities. Stock 003 are not superior to stock 3rd gen of MBox Pro in any way. That being said, you're talking about mods and that's not exclusive to 003s. The new MBox pro has mods to and the same companies that were offering mods for the 003 are now offering huge mods for the MBox Pro too. Not only that, what they do to the MBox (e.g. Black Lion mod) is better than what they offer for the 003.

I really cant say that im that impressed>I have a Digi Rack 003> which is far more superior than these, and it doesnt really strike me as impressive>I spent $1, 200 on that thing>and it sounds ok> my main advice to all those who are getting hyped up over the Advertisement, is to invest in a $500 dollar or up Mic-pre amp....and you'll notice the difference in sound quality>Also>make sure that that same pre-amp has stereo inputs and outputs...and make sure its a TUBE pre-amp >industry sound!
