Is it ok to use Edelbrock air cleaners on carburetors that are NOT Edelbrock?

The stock Chevy performance open element air filter is better due to its bottom plate is shape to act as a venturie.And sits lower offering better clearance with the hood. This from how to Hot Rod Small Block Chevy. The bottom plate was dynoed by itself on open carb and actually added 3 hp all by itself.

You need one that gives a Venturi effect which is helped by the downdraft flat plate with a downdraft makes it like a velocity stack just take a stock Edelbrock low profile laying on the ground and run a bunch of water across it and see what happens it'll go up one side and jump over the carburetor home down the other side should make sense to anybody

When I installed an open element air cleaner, the filter plugged up every 6 months. Into the trash it went.

Didn't matter the name. I could go a year or more on an OEM filter with a standard housing assembly.

I like unmarked Chrome air cleaners also downdraft not low profile if you use a low profile especially on a performance car and a Holley the air goes down first then it goes up around the carburetor hits the top of the air cleaner and goes back in this creates a flat spot and they make low profile air cleaners they suck your car will perform much better with a downdraft one that is flat on the bottom and sweeps into the carburetor proven fact in Edelbrock doesn't pay anybody to advertise for them

Not a carb guy, but I think in general the thing it says on the tin is what it should be (unless the thing in the tin is better than what it says

i mean my daily has an edelbrock air cleaner with a 600 holley under it, and believe it or not i really don’t think the engine cares

If it works and stays together wth does it matter. When it comes to filters or intakes. I mixed matched all kinds of stuff except for internals on my first build when I 14. Even then I had a little bit of guidance from a friend but he taught me to mess things even set distributors or carbs off so I would learn.
