Due to centuries of conquest, conversion, intermarriage, and sharing the same region, it would make sense that there would be some linkage between the original indigenous Canaanites, the Hebrews (modern Jews) and Palestinians. Let's remember that many Palestinians could be descendants of Jews who converted to Christianity or Islam centuries ago. It's not so black and white.

It should be obvious that most people from the land of Palestine/Israel are descendants of canaanites but have a mix of ethnicities due to history and empires. a lot of palestinians have a ton of european dna, and some have more arab dna, but most palestinians will have predominantly canaanite in their dna test. i have taken one and as a palestinian i have 83% canaanite.

The answer is both groups are. The Canaanites were a nation group. Many grafted themselves into the Hebrew nation. Many later on grafted into Islam. Jews and Palestinians ethnically, ancestorially, come from the same
People. And our DNA shows it

The region should be calle Canaan again and all should have the same right. Those displaced shoud be compensated. The Palestinians are Middle-Easters while lot of Israelis are blonde, blue-eyed Europeans.

For someone like me who is interested in history some of these answers are a bit painful to hear. It seems like a lot of people are quite ignorant of their historical roots. And religion messes things up even more. Today archeologists/historians agree that the ancient Israelites and Judahites were indeed Canaanites and Hebrew is a Canaanite language.

As for the Palestinians it is most probable that many also have Canaanite, and even Jewish ancestry. But, given the history of the region since the Arab invasion of the Levant in 638 CE, it is most plausible that they also have Arabian, and probably even, Turkish, North African and other admixtures.

I'd love to see comprehensive genetical studies done in both Israel and Palestine.

Tel aviv university, of all places, did a genome study which proves both palestinians and jews derive from the Canaanites. Also the idea that all occupents of ancient Israel and Judah were jewish is just plainly ridiculous

As a Muslim from Africa, I learned in school and through the teachings of Islam that the Canaanites were the indigenous inhabitants of the land of Canaan, and they were idol worshipers. Abraham, the ancestor of some Arabs and the Israelites, came to the land of the Canaanites from Iraq. The Canaanites showed Abraham great respect and welcomed him as a prophet.

God blessed Abraham with two sons, Ishmael and Isaac, and promised him that his descendants would inherit the land of the Canaanites because the Canaanites were disbelievers, while the children of Abraham were believers.

After Moses died, Joshua waged war against the Canaanites and took over the land. The twelve tribes of Bani Israel ruled the land under judges before they united into the Kingdom of Israel, with Saul as their first king. After him came Prophet David, followed by his son Solomon.

This is the truth: the original inhabitants of the land of Canaan were the Canaanites.

Jews are Jews. They are as complex as any other nation and in some cases, more so.
It is far more important to understand "how" are the Israelis. The last lady interviewed answered that question in one solitary second when she interjected at one point during her husband's attempt to explain with : " ... I will explain ..."

The only reason they don't associate with the Canaanites people it's because the Canaanites were Black people the Aboriginal people of that land. So both Palestine abd Israeli are fighting each others to the land that they stole from the native Canaanites whoever were Black people. Just like when the European foght against each others in africa.

Funny, nobody asks any other nation about their origins of 3500 year ago.
Wonder why is that?

It's interesting how many Israeli's don't know where Avroahoam was from... He had a nickname: Avram Hoa-Ivrie, which means Abram from the other side. And that's the other side of the Euphrate river, current day Iraq. Ivrie is where the name of the language comes from. Ivrieth, Hebrew.

I love these videos, because I really like hearing Hebrew and I find refreshing how Israelis are very straightforward, don't muck around and answer questions straight to the point. Very different mentality than europeans

As the Hasmonean monarchs forced Canaanite Idumeans and Galileans to convert to Judaism, and these people intermarried with and were absorbed into the Jewish people, Jews are descended from Canaanites. Of course, Jews were Canaanites themselves before they split off from the other peoples of Canaan.
