I was not paid for this video but Walrus Audio sent me the pedal for the video. This does not affect my opinions in any form.
In this video I'll be taking a look at the Walrus Audio Mako D1 Delay.
The Mako D1 Delay is the first pedal in the Mako range from Walrus Audio. This is what they refer to as a "High Fidelity Echo Machine" and it offers studio grade delay tones from 5 different algorithms.
It has a digital, modulated, vintage, multi and reverse delay mode as well as a bunch of useful parameters to tweak. This is a super tweakable delay pedal crammed into a small, pedalboard friendly box.
Each mode has some additional features under a subsection they refer to as "Tweak". This knob controls three separate parameters. The first being MOD which adds additional modulation to the delay tails, the second being TONE which acts as a low or high pass filter depending on the algorithm selected and the third being AGE with adds overdrive to the repeats. On the digital mode the Age feature acts as a Bit Crusher for some crazy glitchy effects.
The ATTACK knob is also a cool feature. This allows you to soften the attack of the delay repeats to get some ambient pad and swell like textures with your delays.
You can stop 9 on board presets in 3 banks of 3 but the unit can also be expanded to 128 presets via MIDI. It has fully stereo in and out capabilities as well as a dedicated tap tempo switch.
In the video I am running the Mako D1 Delay into a Kool Amplification Blue Sky which is mic'd with an Aston Origin Condenser mic and a Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 which is mic'd with a Lewitt Audio LCT440. The Kool Amplification is panned hard right and the Blackstar is panned hard left.
I am also using a Vola OZ ROA as my guitar.
