The tiger II was a good tank. At least for the 50km, it could drive without breaking down

Bob semple made the best tank in history, no argument.

Tiger fear has been overstated. Most didn't even see a tiger 1 let alone a tiger 2 and to see a working one of either one would have probably blown somes minds.

The Sherman, t34 and pz4/stug were probably some of the most effective tanks in ww2

The Tiger 2 was powerful and terrifying...until it runs out of fuel or breaks down then abandoned

one factor that's often not taken into account. Germany's industry at the time was being bombed 24/7. They were denied the necessary elements to MAKE quality steel. By the end, their equipment was, "brittle" upon impact by HV rounds. Had they HAD the materials, these vehicles would've been that much MORE lethal..🤘

The Shermans upgradability ease of maintance large numbers built logisticaly perfect when it came to spare parts. It served in every theatre in WW2 after its introduction. And even after WW2 went on to defeat many T34/85 tanks in Korea and upgraded versions M51 Super Sherman in the Yom Kippur war defeated modern Russian T62 tanks.

I remember reading about an abteilung of 50 King Tigers that were ordered to launch a counter attack requiring a 30km road march. Only 12 of them were able to drive that distance. The US Army had Sherman tanks that made it from the Normandy beaches to Berlin. Patton's 3rd Army lost no Sherman's to mechanical failure during the flank attack on the Bulge.

If you combine all the pros and cons about maintenance, manufacturing, cost, armor and speed, the T-34 was the best tank of WWII.

Such a good tank! At least when it works...

Watch the welds on the armour break after being hit by a 37mm

The Sherman, mechanical reliability, alright performance, a gun that was more than enough, and ease of construction.

Depends if we are talking one on one on support or over all affects on the war

Fun fact: there is a theory, that the reason very heavy impractical tanks like the maus and ratte, or even the Tiger, was because these designs appealed to Hitler, which meant as long as the designs were good fro him they didn't have to go to war, and could stay behind the lines.

Sherman wins hands down. There were plenty of tanks with thicker armour and bigger guns, but they all came with gargantuan logistical and production drawbacks.

The Sherman managed to be reliable, relatively cheap and easy to produce & maintain whilst also having a combination of effective firepower, armour and mobility. It was also an extremely adaptable platform and had some of the best survivability of any tank during the war. It also looks cool, which is always the most important point.

Unironically, the M4 Sherman was the absolute best tank of the war, it did everything you could ask a tank to do, and did it well.

It really depends on what you want it to do. The Tiger 2 would win a 1v1 fight against any other tank but it never had the numbers to fight 1v1.
