Samsung Dryer - Heater Element Replacement How-To DIY - $30 bucks!

This would be the 2nd time that our now 8 year old dryer has lost its heating element, each one lasts about 4 years. This time we filmed its replacement, this is totally something anyone can do if you can handle a screw driver, which is just about the only tool you'll need. Parts are cheap and online, just make sure to match your model number with the part you are ordering.

I viewed the video & felt I could replace the heading elements. I ordered the part $26 & followed the video. It was a success. I big thank you as I know someone would have changed me much more than $26 to replace it.

Best video ever ! I watched a dozen before I tried to tackle this, I got it done in a little over an hour. I'm a 69-year old woman who always wants to save money, ordered the part on Amazon and with your video I nailed it.

Thank you very much for posting this video! $29 Amazon part and 1.5 hours of our time vs. paying for repair or a new dryer! 🎉

Like the other folks, I wanna thank you for putting this video together. I had the same problem ordered the inexpensive part from Amazon and replaced it in a day. No repair bill and no new costly dryer. Thank you for putting this out there.

For my unfortunate friends that have the black version of this dryer (DVE50R5400V/A3 in my case), there are 2 additional screws behind the metal stand holding up the element. They are very difficult to get to from the front side. If you have an Allen wrench with a built-in Phillips head that will save you a lot of time. I lost mine, so I'm currently using a Phillips bit and tiny vice grips. Wish me luck!

Edit: Just those 2 screws turned a 30 minute disassembly into an hour. However, im finally done, and I wouldn't have been able to do it without this very helpful video!

One last thing, if you do have my model dryer, wait to take off ALL of the wires until after you have the new element and new fuses, as it's much easier to replace all of the components one wire and one piece at a time. The only wire that you have to disconnect to remove the element is the red wire above the blue wire that feeds directly into the top plug. After its removed, the element slides right out and you can set it on the floor directly in front of the dryer.

Thank you so much for all the info and easy to follow steps!! ! 58 ur old woman and I did it!! I’m so proud of myself did it in a couple of hours. Honestly, hardest part you would think was the easiest! Pulling the metal plugs of heat element was a challenge! Thanks again and I sent you a “thanks$$”

I was happy w your video because I didn’t have to remove the drum. I will say that if your going to do it this way you will be laying on the floor a bit. I had no problem w this. If you turn the element hard to the right you can re install the base that goes under the element when your reinstalling the new unit. That’s was the tightest spot in this job. There is two screws on the back of the mount below the element (in the back of the mount ) the two on the front are easy to get too. To clarify I didn’t have little feet like this one. Mine mounted to the floor with two screws. But it was mostly the same. Thanks

This video was my saving grace to fix my dryer as I had no idea why it wasn't working and didn't want to buy a new machine after just buying a new washer. Thank you so much !

Amazing reference video. This was nearly identical to the unit I owned and worked perfect to resolve the issues. More importantly, it helped me understand the internals of the dryer a little better so that an easier fix could be implemented in the future. I truly believe it was a clog based on what I pulled out and cleaned up, but figured I would change the element anyway since I was in there.

Note: My dryer was a newer or order version of the same model. I had 2 screws in the back, not the feet of the litt stand that hold it up. After wiggling for a while I felt around and found the two screws. I was able to get them, even with my arthritis, by coming in with a stubby Philips from the right hand side. Maybe make this a top comment so that other people see it.

Amazing video. Thank you for showing how to open the top without taking off the screws and L-hinge in the back. It saved me tons of time since I have a tight laundry room. Other videos showed you had to take off the heating compartment from the back, but this method from the front was so much easier.

This video was super helpful thank you!

I’d like to add that the bracket on my dryer that holds up the heating element had 2 screws on the backside of it. So if it’s not coming out easy, check for that!
