7-year-old loses shoe at beginning of race — and still wins

Seven-year-old Talaya Crawford lost her shoe at the beginning of a track race – but that didn't slow her down, literally. She quickly put her shoe back on and sped up to the other runners and ended up winning the race. Her dad, professional boxer Terence Crawford, posted video of the astounding race on Instagram, and it went viral. "She just doesn't have a clue how much she just motivated me," he wrote.

They flew this little speedster and her mom to Eugene, Oregon, for the Prefontaine Classic. They did an interview on the track with her, while they showed a video of her accomplish on the big screen to the roar of thousands of fans. I have a feeling we'll see her running at the Pre classic in about 10 or 12 years!

Very inspirational. I’m 25 and not doing as good in life as I have before. It feels like I started the race with everyone and I slipped up. I haven’t wanted to continue chasing my goals because at this point in my life they seem so far out of reach compared to how close I was at one time. In my head I was telling myself there was no way someone could start the race behind everyone and still win. This girl has truly inspired me to start working toward my goals again but this time with new motivation. It’s gonna take some heart but I feel like I have a chance now thanks to her. Funny how such a short random clip affected me so much but I think it’s really something I needed to see to believe.
