KAMALA WIPES OUT TRUMP LEADS IN SWING STATES - 7.31.24 | Countdown with Keith Olbermann

SERIES 2 EPISODE 222: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN

A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: As reports mount that she'll select her Vice Presidential running mate next Monday or Tuesday, Kamala Harris - ten days into her campaign - surges into the lead in the swing states:

Michigan: Kamala Harris 53 Trump 42

Arizona: Harris 49 Trump 47

Wisconsin: Harris 49 Trump 47

Nevada: Harris 47 Trump 45

Georgia: Harris 47 Trump 47

North Carolina: Trump 48 Harris 46

Pennsylvania: Trump 50 Harris 46

Seven Swing States Combined in these polls by Morning Consult for BLOOMBERG News: Harris 48 Trump 47 or as they headlined it “Harris erases Trump’s Swing State Lead.”

But Nate Silver told me Harris only has a 38 percent chance of winning, the New York Times told me this is just a "honeymoon" period (a term for the time AFTER a VP is chosen and a convention is held) and Axios told me Trump is selecting his cabinet.

Explaining the polls, and the media's inability to believe anything that never happened before is happening now.

B-Block (30:38) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Honorary mention, me, for coughing on the podcast yesterday. So now Matt Gaetz is OPPOSED to electoral losers insisting they really had won? Laura Loomer makes up a story no crazier than the other stories she's made up and got mad at all of us for taking her seriously. And the National Association of Black Journalists is entitled to host Trump for an interview at its convention. It is NOT allowed to let him bring his own pet propagandist with him to "interview" him.

C-Block (44:33) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: In those days there was no internet, no ESPN, no CNN, and no weekday national sportscasts. So when the captain of the New York Yankees crashed his private plane 45 years ago this Friday, it was left to eight or so network radio sports guys to cover the nightmare in real time. And one of them was a rookie with about eight days' experience in the business: Me.

“Countdown With Keith Olbermann,” the landmark news and commentary program that reordered the world of cable news, returns as a daily podcast. Olbermann’s daily news-driven mix will include his trademark “Special Comment” political analysis, the tongue-in-cheek “Worst Persons In The World” segment, and his timeless readings from the works of the immortal James Thurber. The man who turned SportsCenter into a cultural phenomenon will broaden the content to include a daily sports segment, a daily call for help for a suffering dog, and a remarkable series of anecdotes covering a career that stretched from covering the 1980 Olympic Miracle on Ice a month after his 21st birthday, to anchoring the 2009 Presidential Inauguration and the 2009 Super Bowl pre-game show in a span of just twelve days, to rejoining ESPN as a “rookie” baseball play-by-play man at the age of 59.

New episodes weekly on iHeartRadio.

Keep Gabby Gifford in mind while Chump whines about getting a scratch on his ear from a broken fingernail…

Vance's oldest child is NOW only SIX. What 3-4 year old attends school, let alone required to be vaccinated/masked. He's such a hypocrite.

The tattoo of your rescue dog on your arm looks great I recognized him from a video you posted of the two of you walking across the street and he was jumping over the crosswalk stripes. I fell in love with him immediately ❤ *What a funny little dog!* (I thought) I even told my grown daughter about it later and we had a good laugh together being dog lovers ❤. You were lucky to have had him all those years 😊

Thurman was a relative, and when I moved to NY at the ripe age of 19, Thurman made sure I never missed a home game. He was the sweetest man! He died two days after my birthday, which is today, and I always remember that particular week. 😢

It amazes me how you can bring me to tears, about a topic I was unaware of until today. I completely understand how it would be impossible for you to listen to your commentary from '79. Your passion for baseball, and your love of Munson shone through today, even 45 years later. I think a part of me was sad, not just about the man's tragic death, but about your younger self's grief over his death.
You've had such a career, and apparently have been a total professional, albeit a passionate professional from the tender age of 20.
Thanks, Keith.

Jeez, I don't know how you do it, Keith. I've never cared a day in my life about sports, but you keep making cry with your stories. Kudos to you, man. You're awesome.
